Angry Grandpa, Cranky YouTube Sensation, Dies at 67
by Rosemary Rossi
Dec. 10, 2017

Charlie Green Jr, better known as YouTube personality Angry Grandpa (AGP), died Sunday after a short battle with skin cancer. He was 67.

His son Michael announced the news on Twitter, saying, “Heaven just got a whole lot angrier. Dad, I’m going to miss you more than I even understand as I write this. I already miss you more than you’ll ever know. I’m so sorry that you couldn’t enjoy your fame longer but I’m so happy that the last 10 years of your life had a purpose.”

The former firefighter became a social media superstar with his cantankerous videos, which were featured on HLN’s "Dr. Drew," TruTV’s "Rude Tube" and MTV’s "Pranked". His “The Angry Grandpa Show” moved to YouTube, where it amassed over 3 million subscribers and over 627 million views earlier this year. On his second channel, Grandpa’s Corner, he shared personal stories, read viewer mail and made cooking videos.

In February, as a camera rolled, he told Michael he had cancer. Although the cancer was in remission for a few months, in July he was hospitalized and diagnosed with cirrhosis. Last month, he tweeted a message to his fans (known as “Grandpa’s Army”), “SOMEONE TELL DEATH TO KISS MY ASS! I AIN’T READY YET!!!!!”

AGP is survived by five children, nine grandchildren and a fiancé.

Poor guy died young. I never heard of the man. What was he generally angry about, everything?

I posted about him on this site before when he made a video commenting on that autistic boy bullied by his teachers:

His son explained that he would just explode over random things and start trashing the house. He would stage "pranks" on his dad that would make him explode and it became a big online hit.

Though I must admit, as time went on, that I believe most of the vids were staged.

Even if he's right, he's a nutcase. No sympathy.

Do you think his vids were real or fake? Mcjuggernuggets who I was convinced was for real for a while finally came out as staged, so I wonder about AGP.

I think that they were real in the very beginning. This was before YouTube when the vids were posted to Break.com when they were poor living in the trailer park.

Then I would say the vids became more and more staged as their popularity grew. They would have to think of more "pranks" to keep the shtick going to please their fanbase.
