On an episode of Cheers I noticed that the character Carla had a mean streak and was a bully to everyone and it makes me think that when Rhea Perlman auditioned for the role of Carla on Cheers she wanted to use her own personality and attitude to bring the character Carla to life
I always have liked Carla on Cheers because she reminds me of myself when I have an attitude

I've always hated Carla. Nasty little troll and very unlikeable.

I hate her too. One of the worst characters ever.

Not a fan of Carla's. Boy did she ever go after Norm and Cliff! Was there anyone in the bar that she was nice to?

I love Carla. I mean as a sitcom character. I can't say I'd actually want a Carla in my real life, haha.

Carla fan here too. She was a good foil for Diane.

Being that she was the sole support of a large family, Carla DID have some moments of sympathy and I could have imagined her at least having started out being willing to try to like Norm and Cliff. Alas, as the show progressed, these moments became rarer and rarer and she devolved into a completely meanspirited, unsympathetic character (though, by the time the show finally ended, the ONLY character left who was still likable was Woody but he was just there to be made fun of for his naivete). I mean, even her onetime saving grace of looking out for Sam's best interests because she adored him warts-and-all, got scuttled when she proved willing to participate in a cruel prank by Gary against Sam.
