The channel has made some nice pick up of old shows over the years but it's too many negatives and I am finally fed up with the channel

1. Awful edits

2. Poor scheduling of new shows

3. Crunching of the Closing credits

4. Cancer commericals

The sh*tty scheduling is a problem for me because I can't afford DVR service with Comcast.

The sh*tty scheduling is a problem for me because I can't afford DVR service with Comcast.I agree with 3 and 4, especially 4. That's why I don't watch Antenna TV anymore except for ALL IN THE FAMILY every once in a while.

When they first started they were a good channel too.

I couldn’t have said it better. I haven’t watched this channel in two years and won’t ever watch it again.

Count me in on 3 and 4. As for 4, I call them junk commercials, and that's all they have. If you see anything else, it's probably a local break-in. Not only do they have cancer, they have attorneys (800 number, of course), 19 dollar a month ripoffs for unicef, aspca, childrens hospitals, etc., cheapo car insurance or car repair insurance, medicare advantage plans, you-name-it.

I'd say it's still better than most other channels. Of course I don't have cable anymore and Antenna TV is really the only channel I miss.

Even BUZZR shows the same old commercials also.

I don't like the credit crunches on Antenna TV either, but they've been doing that for awhile so I don't think they'll stop it.

One thing I have to give Antenna credit for is airing some one season 1960's sitcoms like Good Morning World, It's About Time, and My Mother The Car. These aren't the greatest shows by any means, but it's good they've aired these shows for those interested to see them.

And most of all I have to give them a thumbs up for airing The Joey Bishop Show, including the 1st season episodes which hadn't been seen since their original run. I recorded the season 1, 3 and 4 shows and transferred them on to DVD's. I didn't have to record season 2 because I have the retail DVD set.

There are definitely pros and cons to Antenna TV but I'd say that for it being free and over-the-air (and yes I know some people can't get it w/o cable) it's definitely good, and better than most cable channels (like trashy Logo). At least they're bringing back shows like Alice, Benson, Head of the Class, The Hogan Family, Silver Spoons, Murphy Brown, Gimme a Break... which have not been seen in syndication for years and years(not counting Logo, because Logo is trash). Yes, they're edited(the majority; I think a few shows are unedited) but they're not edited BY Antenna, they're edited by the distributors. Antenna's not perfect, for sure, but they're so much better than TV Land and Logo.

Antenna TV isn't perfect but I think they're one of the better retro channels along with MeTV. MeTV airs a variety of stuff, sitcoms, dramas, cop/detective shows, westerns, while Antenna TV is mostly a sitcoms channel.

I receive several of the other retro channels too, except for Decades, looks like my cable service doesn't provide that channel.

What's so bad about LOGO? That's a genuine question. I've never watched it before, so I don't know what problems they had.

I already know about the problems with TV Land, haha. Such a great channel that went to pot.

The people who get Antenna TV and take it for granted don't realize how lucky they are. I will be angry at my loser good for nothing affiliate that dropped it for a long time. I wish I could take an Antenna affiliate from all the people who don't want theirs. It was already one of the best channels on the air, and I had really been looking forward to the January schedule. Some people are even luckier getting both Antenna TV and Me-TV (I have never had that). :soapbox: :mumble:

Of course I don't have cable anymore and Antenna TV is really the only channel I miss.If your market still has an Antenna affiliate you would not need cable, it would probably be on one of your sub-channels. unless you are in the mountains like tlc38 but I think you have mentioned living in a city.

Good TimesNone of those shows air on TV Land any more. Their current lineup has Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Andy Griffith Show, M*A*S*H, Everybody Loves Raymond, Mom, The King of Queens, The Golden Girls, Reba, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Roseanne, How I Met Your Mother, and their original comedy Teachers. Welcome Back Kotter must have aired on TV Land a long time ago in a galaxy far away. I have had the channel for 11 years now and don't recall it being on the lineup. The only places I have seen Kotter are WGN for a one night marathon, and on Antenna TV when it premiered on Labor Day.

I already know about the problems with TV Land, haha. Such a great channel that went to pot.

LOGO airs and hacks up shows like The Facts of Life, Golden Girls, The Nanny, Roseanne, Alice, Mama's Family, and Three's Company. I would like them if not for the lengthy commercial breaks and bad editing and NO credits at all. And they ran severely butchered episodes of One Day at a Time with pivotal scenes missing at one point!

Antenna is sitcoms plus Johnny Carson. All comedy now.

MeTV has too many westerns.

The Norman Lear shows are almost completely removed. All in the Family, Good Times, Sanford and Son, The Jeffersons, and One Day at a Time are all leaving the schedule in January. The only Lear show left is Maude, and it is far away from primetime, weekdays at 1:30PM.

I like some of the 90 minute Carson shows, I'm interested mostly in the shows from the 1972-77 time period. I don't watch the 60 minute shows.

I'm not a fan of westerns either, I can do without those. I have a collection of movie serials, some of those are westerns. Some are OK but others are dull and boring. I usually prefer Columbia serials compared to those made by Republic or Universal.

But they put Three;s Company on at 8pm when that slot could have been for Alice.

Exactly. YES, Alice should have gone to 8pm (maybe it will in the Spring) but for now it'll be on Sundays at 10:30pm. So, it DOES technically have a primetime slot.

I like Antenna too but the credit crunch and the odd commercial breaks annoy me. You lose the flow of the conversation when they just abruptly go to a break. But I am looking forward to the shows in January.

And btw, Logo pisses me off. The edits are aggravating. Plus, there first commercial they show when they go to a commercial IS THE SAME ONE ALL THE TIME!!

I think maybe they do credit crunching to get more of the show in. Earlier shows ran like nearly 28 mins for each half hour and newer shows have up to 23 mins per half hour, so they do that to fit more of the show. thats my guess anyways.

Antenna TV is far from perfect but it is way better than most of the other classic TV/sitcom station. Almost all of them edit the shows and crunch credits. I've watched MeTv, getTv, Cozi, Logo, FamilyNet (now Cowboy Channel), TVLand, ABCFamily (now Freeform), Laff, the HUB, the GoodLife Network (now Youtoo America) and they have either turned into garbage or have some major flaws. Some of the good things about Antenna TV

1. It does not show Infomercials
2. It does not repeat the same episodes like 3 times per day (like FamilyNet used to do)
3. It has picked up sitcoms that have not aired in syndication and are not fully available on DVD (Head of the Class, Hogan Family, Silver Spoons)
4. It is free and you don't have to pay a $100+/month just to have it as one of your channels.

The only way to watch sitcoms anymore without edits and crunched credits is to buy the DVD sets (and even those may be edited). Unfortunately, a lot of the shows on Antenna TV have not been fully released on DVD. So you really have no choice.

I'm shocked that Antenna TV is airing the Valerie credits episodes. Don't think that was ever syndicated. In the early nineties Valerie Harper's episodes had the HF credits in syndication.

I am not too upset for not getting Antenna for what from posters say most of the shows that are shown are from the mid 1970 and 1980's. Seen those, don't need to see again.
