View Full Version : Antenna TV has done a good job in bringing back old shows so what about..............
TVFactFan 12-02-2017, 07:22 PM CHICO AND THE MAN!!!
That's the only 70's show that has not been a lot in syndication. They have done such a good job in bringing all the other shows back like Alice, Benson, Head of the Class and Silver Spoons so when is CATM going to be appear in syndication again?
Mr. Television 12-02-2017, 08:11 PM I've been waiting forever to see this show again. It's a lost hit.

well atleast Benson is airing at 9pm

Yea. I hope Benson lasts longer than last time. I barely saw it.
1960'sTVfan 12-02-2017, 09:50 PM I wonder if the reason for Chico And The Man not airing in syndication might have something to do with Freddie Prinze? Maybe for whatever reason his family/relatives don't want the episodes to be run on TV. I don't know, I'm just posing a theory.
And other than that Television Favorites DVD that came out years ago which I imagine is now out of print, there are no DVD's of the show either. Strange.
Mr. Television 12-02-2017, 11:07 PM TV Land did air it before I got that channel and the Goodlife Channel aired it later which I didn't have either.

I remember TV Land having it. IIRC, it was early-2001, and I don't even think it made it to that summer. From what I remember reading, it bombed in syndication. Like someone mentioned, I'm guessing Freddie Prinze's death was a reason, considering the show went into syndication just a year or so after.
treky 12-03-2017, 02:52 AM I remember YEARS ago-it was 1979 or 80-a local station in Philadelphia showed it for a brief time. But it was on Sundays at 2 pm or something.
OH Nuts! 12-03-2017, 12:06 PM Chico And The Man would be nice to revisit BUT Room 222 is at the top of my wish list.

Room 222 airs weekday mornings on aspire.
It’s December and still no Antenna TV in my area.

Benson has done badly in syndication, at least on TVLand and Antenna.
This is crass, but now that Robert Guillaume is gone, maybe it's cheaper to acquire.

I doubt that a network would care whether or not his family wants it shown if they thought they could make money from it. Freddy Prinze was only in 63 episodes which is less than 3 seasons. Plus everyone knows he committed suicide during the run and that makes the show unpleasant to watch. The shows with the replacement kid were embarrassing and never should have been made.

I remember hearing it was a year before I joined this site.

Yes that's what I was alluding to in my other post, since Freddie committed suicide during the 3rd season might make the show unpleasant to watch for many people, regardless of if his family would want the episodes to be shown or not. As long as there isn't a lot of public interest in the series, the chances are probably low for it to be shown on TV or released on DVD. They tried to continue on with the show and had a 4th season, but I agree it would have been better to just cancel it after season 3.
or mine
You don’t have Antenna either?
icecream 12-03-2017, 06:16 PM You don’t have Antenna either? My affiliate dropped Antenna a few weeks ago.
mets82 12-03-2017, 10:07 PM Maybe it bombed in syndication which is why they don't show it. I don't know if the suicide has anything to do with it because there are some shows that air where the people did sick things.
