Well I decided to take a look on Buzzr's website today for the hell of it. I saw that they have a advertisement for Supermarket Sweeps coming in 2018.

As a huge fan of the show. This delights me to no end. Even if it the original run, and not the later reboot most associate it with.

Buzzr is gonna have the original 1960's version of Supermarket Sweep in 2018? How exciting this news is because I knew very little about the original Supermarket Sweep and I didn't know that it originally debuted in the 60's. If the original Supermarket Sweep reruns are a success for Buzzr maybe GSN will add the Lifetime version of Supermarket Sweep that I watched as a kid. Here's another amazing fact about the 60's version of Supermarket Sweep that you may find shocking to know. Supermarket Sweep became known as The Honeymoon Race at the time of it's finale in the 60's. It's nice that Buzzr is adding some nice reruns of game show classics to their lineup because it would cool to see. I sure do wish I had Buzzr on Direct TV just to see the classic game shows

I don't have it either unfortunately.

I answered this question once before in the other topic mentioning Supermarket Sweeps. I'll answer it again though. Yes, I only watch Japan and worldwide Indy wrestling nowadays. I just can't get into WWE anymore.

It's not a 100% confirmed that they acquired the original run and not the 90's/2000s era. Looking at the ad more it shows the later years in the background. So there's a chance it's the run we're most familiar with. Until Buzzr announces what version it is. Everything is pure speculation till then.

I remember asking but I forgot to look for a response. The reason why I ask I ask is because your avatar has The Bullet Club.

The thing about Supermarket Sweep is that I thought that the original airings were lost and the only ones available were the David Ruprecht episodes.

So the version of Supermarket Sweep that Buzzr is gonna air is the David Ruprecht version on Lifetime that I grew up with. I do wonder why Buzzr was chosen to air Supermarket Sweep rather than GSN. Is it because Al Howard Productions had a contract with Buzzr to air the episodes of Supermarket Sweep? I do wish I had Buzzr just so my mom and I could watch Supermarket Sweep again

I wish I could do the same with my mom. It was one of the things we bonded over.

Yup, the modern day nWo if you ask me. You can always PM me if you wanna talk wrestling.

I'm not completely sure if it's one of those lost gems or not. I'd love to see the original version either way. Though I'm perfectly content with the David Ruprecht hosted era.

Is it because Al Howard Productions had a contract with Buzzr to air the episodes of Supermarket Sweep?

Its because Freemantle bought the rights to Super Market Sweep and Freemantle owns Buzzr.

With the reboot in the works. It makes me wonder if it'll be a Buzzr exclusive or go to syndication.

KRW, I will PM you about wrestling.

I looked on Wikipedia, I think,(take that for what it's worth) and they said that the original black and white versions of Supermarket Sweep were wiped out and erased.

I'm really hoping that's not the case of the original run. I know countless others and myself would love to see just one episode of it.

They are shopping the reboot for syndicaton.

Here's hoping a affiliate around my area strikes a deal with FremantleMedia to get it. My local NBC affiliate picked up Family Feud from syndication recently.

I was going to post this (as a guess), when I began reading this thread. Many daytime shows were wiped in the 60s--soaps and game shows. Videotape was expensive and networks were/are cheap, and they simply reused the tapes. (Also, old videotapes are large and would take up a lot of space.)

Some of the old black and white game shows were preserved, but what was saved was in the kinescope format, a film camera shot of a video monitor. A large percentage of the 876 episodes of the original What's My Line? were preserved in this format.

Yeah usually at least one can be found. I think GSN once showed what is probably the only copy of the original Match Game, from NBC daytime.

In a perfect world nothing would get axed. Though I don't get the channel and it's purely suggestion. I'd replace a hour block of Family Feud with Supermarket Sweep. I mean looking at the schedule as is. It wouldn't hurt to take a hour away.

Makes sense. It's not like there's a shortage of Family Feud. It's everywhere.

Right, it's not like they couldn't rotate the different Family Feud hosts in the other two blocks they have. It's the only thing I could see doing without getting rid of a show they don't repeat as much.

As much as I enjoy Match Game, they probably don't need to be airing it as much as they do either.

In case you were referring to the Game Show Network, I wish to let you know that I remember having seen more than one edition of the original "Match Game" through their programming on a certain days years ago.

That's interesting. Game Show, as it originally was, bears no resemblance to the GSN of today. They had all kinds of interesting old game shows, in their early days.

I remember seeing the original Match Game on NBC in the 60s. It had a different theme than the 70s version, but was always hosted by Gene Rayburn.

A quick Google search showed a few episodes from the 1960's Match Game on YouTube.

I remember watching that too. I don't know how may episodes actually exist, but you're right, they definitely showed more than one.

That's a great timeslot! I think it will do will there

Although it could use a better lead in than Password Plus.

If I were program director I would do 8-10 PM (repeat 11 PM-1 AM) something like this

8 PM Shop Til You Drop
8:30 PM Supermarket Sweep
9 PM Sale of The Century
9:30 PM Debt
