Same here. To paraphrase Walter Cronkite, I was there..and not there. It all seemed unreal.

People forget that the reason that JFK went to Texas was because he was trailing in the polls there and was in danger of losing the 1964 election. JFK was also very conservative by Democratic standards and could never win the Democratic nomination today. JFK lowered taxes, got us into Vietnam and nearly fought a nuclear war against the Soviet Union. If you listed Kennedy's policies and asked Democratic voters who they belonged to virtually all of them would say a Republican. Bobby Kennedy was the liberal one. People have romanticized JFK into being a savior that could have solved all the world's problems and that's a complete fantasy.
