In the TV world I've noticed that when sitcoms are being in production it seems that great teen and child stars have become rare to find in TV today and I would like to know why this is? Is it because children are very difficult to deal with in the TV world and when people try to put children in a acting career it is very stressful for the children? Or is it a very high and smart market for sitcoms to have teen/child stars today to make them have a stepping stone for a movie career? Take for instance in the 80's and 90's there were child stars that made their marks in sitcoms such as Keshia Knight Pulliam and Tempestt Bledsoe and Raven Symone from The Cosby Show and when The Cosby Show debuted The Cosby Kids became international celebrities and were seen on every magazine ever made. And Tempestt Bledsoe was coming off her success of being an actress in commercials at the time. Another child star that also became popular in the 80's was Fred Savage and before he became huge on The Wonder Years he also was an actor in commercials before making his movie debut in the classic movie The Boy Who Could Fly then as the 90's began Fred Savage's popularity soared. In the 90's there was even more child and teen stars such as The Olsen Twins Jodie Sweetin Candace Cameron from Full House and Jaleel White from Family Matters and when Full House started in the 80's Jodie Sweetin had gone from the cute adorable little girl as Stephanie Tanner to a more mature teen actress and the same thing happened to Candace Cameron when Full House's popularity began to increase in the 90's when the character DJ Tanner matured in personality Candace Cameron had a personality change as well and wanted to be more popular than her brother Kirk. Another sitcom to do this was The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air and when Tatyana Ali appeared on it she gained more popularity and even launched a singing career. Prior to The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air Tatyana Ali appeared on Sesame Street and was on a roll. Another Fresh Prince star that also was a child actor was Alfonso Ribeiro and when he appeared on Fresh Prince he became a mega star and went on to star in In The House and GSN's Catch 21 and little did people know that Alfonso starred in Silver Spoons. But in TV today I do wish to see more child and teen stars become popular again

We've managed to create a country where most adults act like children. Such a country doesn't need to watch children on TV.
Adults act like children, and they have children, so you have kids "raising" kids. So the so-called adults treat these kids as peers, or pals. Doesn't bode well for the future.
To take it back on topic, though, I saw an article someplace on that kid who's playing Young Sheldon. Seems like he's a promising actor.
Also, Angus T. Jones seemed to have a good start, but he backed away from acting. It didn't help that they turned his character into a dumba**.

Another child star that had suddenly made a name for himself in sitcoms as a teen star is Jason Bateman and when he debuted on Little House On The Prairie as a guest star Jason Bateman was destined for success and when he went on to star in Silver Spoons It's Your Move and The Hogan Family and also was a commercial actor too and now he's a successful star in movies. Another child star was Jonathan Taylor Thomas and when Home Improvement became a popular sitcom Jonathan Taylor Thomas's popularity soared and ever since he provided the voice of young Simba in The Lion King Jonathan Taylor Thomas was seen on every teen magazine and was as big as David Cassidy was in the 70's and now today now that Jonathan Taylor Thomas and the other Home Improvement kids have become adults you don't hear much about Jonathan Taylor Thomas or any of the other Home Improvement kids anymore and it tells me that the secret to make child and teen stars famous is making them stars in sitcoms then exposing them to a more successful audience

Another thing I've noticed about why good child and teen stars are hard to find that it's hard to find a child or teen sitcom star that has a clean image. Take for instance when Family Ties debuted in 1982 Tina Yothers was a great adorable actress in the role of Jennifer Keaton and when Family Ties was a hit Tina Yothers became a role model that young girls looked up to and gave girls great fashions but as soon as Tina Yothers became an adult she changed her image and became more mature. The same thing happened with Justine Bateman and when Family Ties became more popular Justine Bateman also became a role model for girls because of her big sister personality that many young girls shared in common who had siblings. Then when Justine Bateman grew up into an adult you never have seen much news about Justine Bateman anymore. In the 80's when Saved By The Bell debuted in 1989 there were teen stars that were gonna be huge in television such as Dustin Diamond and Mario Lopez and when Saved By The Bell ended Mario Lopez became a TV host and became a game show host and still is considered a teen idol and as for Dustin Diamond his career went downhill after Saved By The Bell ended. And one of the stars that became huge was Tiffani Amber Thiessen and she is now a celebrity on Food Network. As more sitcoms are being made I think we shall see a new rise of child and teen stars in the making

The youngest daughter on Life in Pieces is very charismatic (saw her on a talk show) and seems like a future star.

Atticus Shaffer who played Brick on The Middle over the last decade has better comedic timing then almost all the famous child star's listed in the opening post. With the exception of the kid who plays Eddie all the child actor's on the series Fresh Off The Boat are good as most adult actor's. Also I would be pretty shocked if Kaitlyn Dever who played Tim Allen's youngest daughter on Last Man Standing doesn't go on to have a long career in Hollywood considering some of the name's she has already worked with at such a young age
The reason though we don't really have nearly as many child star's as in decades past is because kids have their own show's on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel they watch, and while the children who star in those shows are huge names to kids unless you are a preteen parent those name's mostly stay isolated in that Disney/Nickelodeon Bubble. The TGIF style saccahrin "family sitcom" essentially uprooted to children's cable shows and with a few exceptions child actor's don't appear on network mostly outside of ABC's slate of family comedies on Tues/Wed and even then in many of those show's they revolve around the adults.

Another teen star that seemed to be huge but then continued to be popular after Who's The Boss ended was Alyssa Milano and when Who's The Boss debuted in 1984 Alyssa Milano was a great role model and had a wonderful personality to match but as soon as she grew into an adult when the show Charmed came out Alyssa Milano became more mature. A second child star that was also popular was Staci Keanan and before she starred in My Two Dads she got her start modeling and then got a role in a Captain Kangaroo special before her starring role in My Two Dads and then her popularity soared when she later starred in Step By Step but then after Step By Step ended it's run you never heard about Staci Keanan again. I think with new TV sitcoms being made a new breed of child and teen stars will soon make their marks in TV

The other thing I noticed about child and teen stars is that they grow up and have a different image and become one hit wonders in the TV world. Take for instance Danny Pinturo from Who's The Boss was a wonderful child star in Who's The Boss but when Who's The Boss ended it's run Danny Pinturo was never seen in TV again as an adult. The same thing happened to the child stars of Family Matters and when Jaimee Foxworth was on there playing the role of Judy Winslow she was adorable but when Family Matters ended Jaimee Foxworth's career went downhill and you do not hear about any of the Family Matters stars like Bryton McClure and Kellie Williams and the only Family Matters star you hear about is Jaleel White these days. But as long as good sitcoms are made we will see a new breed of child and teen stars making their marks in the world

Another fact about why teen and child stars are becoming hard to find in sitcoms today is that the teen stars and child stars are only famous for only sitcom and become one hit wonders afterward. Take for instance when the movie Jerry Maguire came out to quote the popular tagline actor Jonathan Lipnicki really "had us at hello" by being an amazing child star and was destined to be a successful star in sitcoms but when CBS launched the short-lived Meego which had Jonathan was a star along with Bronson Pinchot Jonathan Lipnicki showed that he had talent in sitcoms and once Meego was cancelled Jonathan moved on to star in commercials mainly for Target and now you don't see Jonathan Lipnicki in TV anymore much. In the 90's brought along new teen stars such as Tia and Tamera Mowry who became stars thanks to the sitcom Sister Sister and when Sister Sister was a hit the Mowry twins were seen on posters in teen oriented magazines everywhere and now they appear in various shows as adults. But when Beverly Hills 90210 debuted there was stars such as the late Luke Perry and when the show was a mega hit for FOX Luke Perry was a mega teen heartthrob of girls everywhere and was seen on posters in magazines attracting the teenage market. Meanwhile Beverly Hills 90210 had another teen heartthrob who also came from the sitcom world which was Jason Priestley and when he made his debut as a child actor on NBC's sitcom Sister Kate in 1989 Jason had talent as a child star which showed when he grew up and is still a crush of 90's girls. I had always wanted to become a sitcom actress when I was growing up but you are trying to make your child famous your child should know the do's and don't's in Hollywood and they will be successful in sitcoms
