Creator Jill Soloway and the show's writers are “fighting to save the show from cancellation" after a second allegation of sexual harassment (https://www.themarysue.com/jeffrey-tambor-latest-alleged-sexual-harasser/) against Tambor (http://www.refinery29.com/2017/11/181477/jeffrey-tambor-sexual-harassment-response-trace-lysette), from actress Trace Lysette, surfaced last night, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Transparent writers had already begun working on Season 5 when the first allegation, from former assistant Van Barnes, was made last week. The Hollywood Reporter reports that “the creator, according to a well-placed source, is asking for the right amount of time to creatively write Maura out of the show, possibly with a death.” Meanwhile, Soloway is scheduled to speak publicly at a panel on Saturday. “Playing Maura Pfefferman on Transparent has been one of the greatest privileges and creative experiences of my life,” the actor told Deadline on Sunday. He added: “What has become clear over the past weeks, however, is that this is no longer the job I signed up for four years ago….I’ve already made clear my deep regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being aggressive, but the idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is simply and utterly untrue. Given the politicized atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don’t see how I can return to Transparent.” Neither Amazon nor Transparent creator Jill Soloway has responded to Tambor's exit, but Deadline reports that his option for Season 5 had yet to be picked up.
