One of the recurring characters on "Welcome Back, Kotter" was the streetwise Buchanan High student Murray, played by actor Bob Harcum. He was the sidekick to the eccentric loner Carvelli (played by Charles Fleischer).

I've always wondered what became of Bob Harcum after "Kotter" ended...he was a memorable character actor during the '70s, appearing in guest star roles on "Good Times," "What's Happening!!," "The Jeffersons," "Police Story," "Serpico," and "The Blue Knight." According to IMdb (The Internet Movie Database), his last credit was the PBS original series "The Righteous Apples" in 1980.
