I've never been especially fond of kids, most especially preschoolers. But whenever I'd watch litb, I'd wish I had a couple of kids like Wally and beaver!
Indeed, they're idealized and all, but if such kids truly existed, I'd want em!:D

All the trouble Beaver gets into would give me a little pause.

I have a kid (teen) and unlike Beaver, she's never been in trouble with the police, or had to go to court. So, no thanks.

The trouble beaver would often get into certainly pales in comparison with the trouble many kids get into today! Lol, his escapades were part of the fun.
My sister would get into trouble at times. Tho I was the black sheep of the family- I was a punk rocker - , I was the most well behaved sibling. I was big on 'clean living' lol, ( I never partied) something one of my drs atttributed to my still being alive.

I have two boys just about the same years apart as Wally and Beaver. Thank goodness the younger wasn’t as naive as Beave. He had a mind of his own and never wore pants like Beaver or twisted in his room. I did sometimes do projects for them like in Beaver’s Poster and Beaver’s Poem. I got an A once in the Science Fair. I know it was wrong but the kid kept nagging me.

I think one reason people like Beaver is if you grew up in this era, especially if you had a brother, then these shows remind you of your own childhood. I know watching the show when I see lunch boxes, clothes, wall telephones, the great cars, the stores and the items inside, it all brings back memories of the great '60's and being a kid then. I was like Wally to my kid brother who was like Beaver, Eddie was just like my friend Dennis, usually talking us into trouble. BUT, my father was more like Larry's father, the hittin' type. I used to only wish back then that my Dad was like Ward, who I thought was the ideal type father.:)

Hazel- that's one of the major reasons I love litb so much. The memories of my own decent childhood. I was an incredibly naive child, but most kids in the 60's were; we could afford to be. I was sheltered and protected.
I'm sure glad I'm not a child today!

The scrapes beaver gets into, and some times Wally as well, just fracture me with laughter.
