I would not agree the first 3 seasons are the best. They certainly are not terrible, but Colonel Potter and B.J. were both improvements over Colonel Blake and Trapper John.

BJ was a crybaby. Not to mention the writing severely took a dip when Larry Gelbart quit after season 4.
