I've had a lot of luck tracking down segments via this forum so I'm going to try for a few more. My descriptions this time are quite limited. However, I think all three might be from the later NBC seasons (on Friday nights) or the two CBS seasons, because not much from those years stuck out to me yet these three segments have lingered in my memory.

1. One of the weirdest cases I've seen. A man disappears from a small town when he possibly goes up a mountain trail. Another man had disappeared up the trail years before and possibly one of them was writing a book.

2. A wife disappears and the husband is a suspect. I know, that's a million different segments. This one involved a shot of a truck driving along a lonely dirt road in the afternoon hours. I feel like the woman disappeared during the day, and they grew suspicious as the evening encroached. Wow, I guess I don't have much to go on with this one. I feel like the husband and wife might have lived in a rural mountainous area and possibly went to look at land, and they can't be sure whether the wife disappeared in the woods or came to harm.

3. A convoluted case in which a husband possibly hurt his wife due to shady business dealings. I remember something about a car being set on fire in front of the house in broad daylight. It was an intriguing but complicated case.

Any help tracking these down based on my poor descriptions will be much appreciated.

I am not thinking of Paul Stamper although that case sounds crazy. I honestly can't remember too much about the third segment I'm trying to identify. In fact, the more I think about it, the more I think that the burned car might have been targeting the husband himself, not his wife.

Maybe #3 is the Two Mary Morris Murders? The first Mary was killed near her home and her car was burned, but the second Mary was the one with all the problems at work.

Yes, I was thinking Ed Baker too for #3, but I don't see the connection with the wife.

I am also remembering a ghost segment where an alleged ghost was murdered at his house, and his car was on fire in the scene, but I don't remember any more details.

I believe that's the John Harden case. It's quite an interesting ghost segment in that the murder case which is used as a backdrop for all the supernatural stuff is so much more intriguing. After 14 years of marriage, Harden suddenly decided to leave his wife and four children, got remarried, moved into a new house, and was shot to death after being lured outside when someone set fire to his car. I was left wanting to learn so much more about this case.

But I'm not sure if this is the #3 the OP is thinking about since Harden's car was set on fire at night and they didn't mentioned anything about his business dealings.

I agree that they should've focused more on the murder case. I always thought the re-enactment of the murder was creepy, with the killer pointing the shotgun at Harden from the bushes. After reading some articles on the case, there were something interesting details that the show left out.

Harden, a repairman, received an emergency call a few hours before he was killed. He, his new wife, and their baby went to the restaurant where the call came from and he worked on a machine there. The killer apparently cut the phone lines to the house while they were gone. That, along with the fire, makes it seem like the killer put a lot of thought into committing this crime. However, for some reason, the killer actually left the murder weapon behind in the bushes!

Investigators believed that the killer walked to a nearby boat ramp and rowed away from the scene. However, because of the commotion from the fire, no one saw him (or her) flee. Another article noted that they did have several suspects in the murder, but they never had enough evidence to charge anyone.

Interesting how the UM segment made it sound like there were no leads whatsoever in the murder and they had zero idea who did it, but obviously, someone really wanted Harden dead if they went to this much trouble. Obviously, Harden's ex-wife would be the person with more motive to murder him than anyone, but I see no indication she was ever considered a suspect.

I don't think it was Hardin's ex-wife who wanted him dead, I think his current wife (who was much younger than him at the time of his murder) had someone who didn't approve of their relationship. A jealous ex-boyfriend or possibly her father.

The first thing that popped in my head when I read their ages was maybe the police should check out her father.

I can't imagine he would be very happy about his daughter (still in her teens) getting together with an already married man who was a father of three and 12 years her senior.

I just watched the Kari Nixon segment, and although I remembered it, I had thought she went to a convenience store for a book, when in reality it was to the market for groceries. Was there a similar segment in which a young girl went out in the night to a store close to home to buy a book?

Has anyone noticed how awful the Amazon descriptions for the cases are? I really appreciate the work that went into putting episode guides on here for us. Sometimes the Amazon ones make no sense as far as indicating what segment you're looking for, and other times they use rhyming or wordplay to almost ridiculous effect such as "Slain Swain."
