Model-turned actress Heather Locklear started making a splash in the '80s with roles on Dynasty and T.J. Hooker, then she started locking down Golden Globe nominations in the '90s, thanks to her popular part as Amanda Norwood on the hit series Melrose Place. Despite continued acclaim for her role in Spin City in the early 2000s, Locklear's star power has faded. Today, she's better known for making tabloid headlines than for her acting work. What went wrong? Keep reading to find out.

I'm guessing that Heather got about as much longevity from her career as one would expect. When it's built on looks and not acting ability there's not much you can do north of forty.

I think Heather is a great actress. Melrose Place especially. So, I disagree on her career built on looks alone and she still has her looks now. If only she could get off the substance and relationship abuse, maybe then, she could be back on top.

It probably isn't that much of a stretch to believe that Heather likely doesn't know how to cope with the fact that she's not that hot young actress (https://qph.fs.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-4afa67b60d2dc7a6e162311878f981f0) (that we saw on Dynasty, TJ Hooker, and Melrose Place) anymore. Heather may have already been going down that path during her heyday (in other words, she’s likely been abusing substances for years but still was "functional"). It wasn't until in recent years (when work started to dry up for Heather) that the abuse has gotten to the point where she is unable to hide it from fans and media. Not getting work potentially means a lack of structure and outsider accountability.

Heather was on TV for about 20 years. She had one of the better careers as far as TV actresses are concerned. Now she's an addict. Needs to pull herself together. So sad to see because in her prime she was great.
