No, she means "Do you live up north" as in Northern East Coast. Good thing I was listening in Social Studies last week...The people of the Northern half of the Midwest to the East Coast are considered "Yankees". So that would be the people from like, Missouri on up, and from Missouri to the Atlantic.

The people south of us are not considered Yanks. They are considered, well, "country people". Texans, People from Bama and Arkansas, and so on and so forth.

She asked why because southerners call soda "cokes", i.e. "Lets grab a coke". They don't say "soda" or "pop". That's why she was wondering.

And since you live in Seattle, you aren't a Yank

I probably won't get home until LATE Sunday night because I'm going to a ball game that starts at 1. After it ends I'll have to come back, load my bags and my dog into my truck then I have a 6 hour drive infront of me. SO it'll probably be late Monday night before I can scan it. I say late Monday because I have to go out of town to a clients on Monday and I probably won't leave there until 7 or so. So it'll be late, but I'll get you a picture up. :)

Well us Great Lakers call it pop. Actually, the correct term is "soda pop" but I don't think they've used that since The Brady Bunch.

If you were to ask for a 'pop' or 'soda pop' around here you'd either be 'popped' one or have an eyebrow arched at you and be question' what in the heck or you talking about' or 'where did you come from?'

It's quiet simple actually, you either ask for a coke, sprite, Dr. Pepper, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, etc. You ask for what you want, not soda or pop or whatever. LOL, I've never heard anyone ask for a pop. In fact, you ask for a coke and then specify what kind in some cases. Hmmm...

By the way, I prefer Cherry Coke to anything;)
