I was listening to my copy of Celine Dion's cd All The Way and found her version of If You Asked Me To and it seemed that it was one of Celine Dion's popular songs of 1992 but what I didn't know was that If You Asked Me To was a hit for Patti Labelle from her 1989 album Be Yourself before Celine Dion covered it. Did Diane Warren write the song If You Ask Me To for a movie and Patti Labelle sang it and Celine Dion was so impressed with the song that Diane Warren asked her to sing If You Asked Me To?

Patti LaBelle's "If You Asked Me To" was featured in the 1989 James Bond
film "Licence to Kill". It plays at the end of the film during the credits.

Patti Labelle's version of If You Asked Me To is from a James Bond movie? Interesting fact about Patti Labelle's version of If You Asked Me To because none of the liner notes of the greatest hits cds of Patti Labelle mention this surprising fact because the only info I've found was that it was on Patti Labelle's album Be Yourself in 1989

Patti LaBelle did an interview with Oprah years ago where she said that
The day they shot the video for "If You Asked Me To" was the same day
That they buried her sister and that's why she's wearing all black in the video
And that she's crying real tears in the video. Not sure why but I always
Remember her saying that about that video.
