I do not remember nor have I seen any evidence that his name was ever spelled "Arnez". It is pronounced that way (phonetically) but the official written name has always been "Arnaz".

This is the sort of thing that believers of the Mandela effect love to find. But it's quite obvious that a lot of people just spelled it in their minds the way it's pronounced and inaccurately remembered it that way.

Apparently it never was Arnez, BUT many of us have memories of it. For me Arnaz just looks so wrong.

Just like I remember Charles Schulze the creator of Peanuts comic being spelled "Schultze". And I remember Christopher Reeve who played Superman's last name being Christopher Reeves.

But yeah like the other poster said it's a phenomenon known as the Mandela Effect, it doesn't resonate with everyone.

No one knows what causes it, but I think something is going on, just WAY too many ppl seem to share the same collective "false" memories.

I don't believe Desi Arnaz ever went by "Arnez." I think this is just people misspelling his name.

However, there are a couple of seasons of "I Love Lucy" where his name is misspelled in the credits. I believe it says "Wilbur Hatch conducting the Dezi Arnaz orchestra." I wonder who was in charge of the credits, and how do they misspell the boss' name?

I remember seeing that Dezi thing in syndication--I think it happened with the fifth season. They corrected it on the DVD sets.

Since I've never seen the original credits, I don't know if they're wrong, but I'd think Desi wouldn't have stood for that. As for syndication, he probably never even knew.
