Like Born in East LA, Cheech and Chong's next movie aired on Comedy Central a few times. This version became known as the "Bag of Diamonds" version. If anyone out there has a copy, please message me at moviecritic1990@hotmail.com I have tons to trade. I collect Workprints & TV Versions.

Thanks,
Jeff

Funny that there even was a TV version- in 1986-87 two independent stations in my area showed the theatrical version uncensored- I still have the airing on tape. For a while they could actually have R-rated content on broadcast TV, but of course it eventually stopped due to complaints.

I know it was shown a handful of times on Comedy Central. Back then, I kept reminding myself to have a blank VHS Tape in handy but something would come up and I would forget. Funny how this version is hard to find with the deleted scenes.

I remember the "space coke" being space diamonds. However I don't remember any additional footage in it. I watched it every time it was on in the 90s.

Along similar lines, I remember the advertising Comedy Central used to run for Half Baked. They actually poked fun at the editing to remove the drug references abd said something like “we can’t tell you why....but they are....half baked.” It was funny.

Yeah they'd censor Half Baked like crazy. At least it wasn't as censored as it's BounceTV counterpart. I'm talking Half Baked that is.
