2023 has its first new entry worth making my list: FOX's anthology crime drama Accused. Both episodes so far have been really good, my one complaint is the subtitles for episode 2 were horribly designed and needed larger.

Same thing for the Candid Cameras. For Allen Ludden's Password Plus and Million Dollar Password though which finished back-to-back, they would still be two separate entries as gameplay was a lot different.

I first read your post as four top favorites all start with F. For that I would have guessed og Frasier, Friends, Family Ties, and Family Affair.

2024 already has its first worthy new entry in Wild Cards. Vanessa Morgan is totally charming as Max.

Pigs must be flying. Between Matthew Perry's death and being a Man With a Plan fan, I decided to give Friends another chance. While there are still numerous shows better than Friends, it is a good show worth adding to my list.

I have added Trivial Pursuit, High Potential, and Scrabble to this year's favorites. LeVar Burton is a much better host of Trivial Pursuit than he was of Jeopardy! Still to premiere this year that I think will be good: NCIS: Origins, Happy's Place, and Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage (not expecting it to be on Young Sheldon's level though). I liked the Murder in a Small Town pilot that featured James Cromwell. Episode two was boring, though. Kiefer Sutherland's brother Rossif does not have his appeal as a lead actor.

Murder in a Small Town is winning me over. For the first time in 3 years there are a double digit number of shows worth putting on my list. Not sure about Georgie and Mandy's long term appeal though with his mother-in-law being so mean.

Murder in a Small Town is back to being dullsville. I might as well finish with just one episode left, but it is off my favorites list for good. If it comes down to one or the other I would much rather Accused get the renewal. Scrabble is also unfavorited. While just good enough to keep watching, Scrabble is not must see viewing like its companion Trivial Pursuit.

NCIS: Origins is a mixed bag. Mark Harmon's narration is great and it has a good supporting cast. But I am disappointed in Mark as a producer consistently making dialogue really raunchy (and showing too much of unclothed Franks puke:). And Austin Stowell is miscast as young Gibbs the lead.

Shifting Gears is the first show worthy of making the new year's favorites list. While not on Home Improvement's quality level I wasn't expecting it to be. But it is a solid show worth coming back for. Barrett Margolis is adorable as the granddaughter. Kat Demmings' daughter is a lot less likable than any of the original Last Man Standing daughters from season 1 (never liked Amanda Fuller's Kristin much and fake Mandy was awful). But that is natural with the estranged concept. This distinguishes itself from the other Tim Allen sitcoms with him being a widower. It would be fun to have Patricia Richardson and Nancy Travis guest star as a pair of sisters who hate Matt.

I'm partial to "Georgie And Mandy's First Marriage" myself as the best rookie network sitcom that has come along in the last few years. I just loved "Young Sheldon", and it was fun to see what Sheldon's family was like as the years went by. Even if you weren't a fan and don't know these characters well, I think the show is still worth a shot.

Good Cop/Bad Cop is excellent, the perfect pairing with Wild Cards. A series premiere this good is rare, 2025's best new show out of three entries so far this year. I like The Hunting Party with sexy lead Melissa Roxburgh, but it is not on Manifest's level and a lot darker than Good Cop/Bad Cop. Shifting Gears has dropped to 3rd. Granddaughter remains the best part and Tim Allen is decent. But I can see why Kat Demmings gets so many haters, she does not have a good voice. The other lead from 2 Broke Girls Beth Behrs is a much better actress.

Happy Days has been my top show from 1974 since creating this list. But The Rockford Files has become such a strong favorite it has officially traded places with Happy Days. I am getting closer to removing Shifting Gears from the list. Barrett Margolis remains the standout and it was nice to see a bigger role for her this week. But a lot of the show just drags on and isn't worth much. Very soon to premiere: TV We Love, DMV, and Boston Blue in the next week. Because of the delay CIA will have to wait until 2026 now.

TV We Love was interesting. But they really should have mentioned I Love Lucy's continuation show The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour.

DMV had a strong opening segment, at that point it was ahead of TV We Love for me. But DMV would be better without that perv in the cast, and gross humor about the d word is not needed. :rolleyes: It does have a strong cast, and Molly Kearney the new manager really reminded me of Camryn Manheim. The blonde lead started out ok but her character got progressively stupider as the show continued. :crazy:

Boston Blue will probably beat them both. Wasn't thrilled about its female lead though, I hope she has gotten better since Star Trek: Discovery.

I didn't care for the recast Sean, but the rest of Boston Blue was a winner. There are several shows through the years I removed, they weren't really much of favorites. Kat Demmings is a bloody awful actress, the worst for any of Tim Allen's sitcom children. At this point I am waiting to put DMV on, but that could happen if it improves. Some shows like Family Matters and Step by Step had a few likable characters, but Urkel took over too much and I can't stand Cody. Can't stand Schneider either, but Valerie makes up for it on One Day at a Time as well as other actresses like Shelley Fabares.

USA finally has a great original drama again. I saw all of The Rainmaker season 1 this weekend. It is fantastic, easily beating out Good Cop/Bad Cop for best show to premiere in 2025.
Boston Blue, on the other hand, I was disgusted with episode 3's x rated plot and turned it off. Get rid of that garbage and make it the really good show the first 2 episodes were.

Boston Blue rebounded from that terrible 3rd episode which was an aberration. There hasn't been much to add for new shows premiering in 2026 for now. I do expect great things from Einstein coming in the fall which is still several months away. Craig Ferguson is definitely an upgrade over Raven-Symone as Scrabble host as I knew he would be. I like CIA to an extent, episode 3 was its strongest so far. But Covert Affairs was a more interesting show about the CIA, helped out by sexy lead Piper Perabo. I have added The Greatest Average American to my schedule. But it is nothing special and likely won't be put here where many all time great or excellent shows are.
