Now that the long-awaited reunion is over, what did you all think? I personally thought it was AWESOME!! It was really a celebration of the show and a huge thank-you to the fans. It was also incredibly sweet, and quite a tear-jerker!

i thought it was pretty good. they showed a lot of great clips and had some interesting things to say. you could tell that they really cared about each other and it was kinda sad towards the end. i would have liked to have seen them all together for at least a little bit but that's ok, it was still a great show.

btw did anyone catch tv guides 50 greatest shows on abc? it was on during the same time as the reunion but since my cbs is weird and is an hour ahead, i got to watch that. mary tyler moore was interviewed a few times and its weird how different she looked than from the reunion.

Hi all. I'm new to this group, but it seems like a great place. Certainly a lot more posts going on than most MTM groups which is fabulous. I am so excited to find some fellow fans! :)

As for the Reunion show, I thought it was *brilliant*. Beautifully done in my opinion. It was so touching, I got teary towards the end (but then again "The Last Show" clips always makes me teary). It really reinvested my interest in the show again. I loved the beginning with the remix of 'Love is All Around' and all the great clips they showed along with it as well as the ending with Ted, Gavin, and Ed all singing that song to/about Mary and the bloopers shown. Speaking of which does anyone know where I could get my hands on any TMTMS bloopers? And while I'm at it....can anyone please tell me where I might be able to find that beautiful picture of Mary that was behind her at the very beginning and the very end of the show when she was talking? It was just a black and white face shot but it was probably the most beautiful picture I have ever seen of her. I also loved the cast photo next to it. If anyone has any idea of where I could find these two pics online or would be interested in emailing them to me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much. :)

PS-At the risk of asking a million questions in my first post, how is everyone getting those cute pictures of Mary by their username when they post?

First of all, Becki, welcome! Are you the same Becki who also just joined my MTM show yahoo group by chance? LOL

OK now to answer your question: Those pictures are avatars, and you can get one for yourself by going into your "user control panel" by clicking on the button above.

I thought it was great, a time to look back. I wished they focused more on MARY and RHODA, tho. Georgia Engel is very sweet, it was good to see the others as well. All in all it brought back a lot of memories, I just don't think the shows of today have the same quality as MARYS show and others I watched in the 70s, 'family' shows as MARY quoted about their group. I grew up watching MARY from the beginning, as well as shows such as BRADY BUNCH and Partridge Family. The quality shows of that time just isn't there any more. REALITY TV., yeah, right. Maybe MARY and Dick Van Dyke will have a special as she hinted on LARRY KING LIVE. :happyface  ;) :D  :happyface :eek2:

The only "problem" I had with it was that they never had the whole group together. When they did a reunion several years ago, they all sat in on it. I wish there had been more interaction with all the group.

Still, it was great to see all of them... especially Betty White. :loveya:

It would have definitely been nicer if they had done it like ABC
had done the Laverne & Shirley Reunion last week with all the
cast together and in front of a live audience. On the other hand
I thought it was well done the way it was done.:)
I believe the guys were singing a riff on the song "More" in
that one clip.
My favorite clips were:the funeral of Chuckles where Mary
starts to crack up;Mr.Grant interviewing Mary;Mary lying on
Sueann's bed;John Ritter as the minister who married Ted
and Georgette;Phyllis getting even with Sueann for stealing
Lars.
Also in case you didn't catch it Chuckles Bites The Dust was
voted the #1 MTM ep.

I was particularly moved by the part near the end when all the cast members gave tributes to the late Ted Knight(Ted Baxter). I thought that was a very classy move on their part. I really enjoyed the whole show but like many of you I would have liked to see the whole cast together at some point during the show. All in all it was a great trip down memory lane!!!

The problem was logistics. Valerie Harper is in New York performing in a play and couldn't be in Los Angeles where most of the other former cast members are. And some of them were unable to be in New York where Valerie Harper is. So the show had to be taped in both Los Angeles and New York, with MTM sitting down with some of the cast members in L.A. and others in NY. I wish Mary would give me some of the frequent flier miles she's accumulated lately.

Hi all,
I felt that the Mary Tyler Moore reunion special was rather good, quite entertaining and very well done. I think the thing that struck me the most was how absolutely incredible Mary looked! (They sure don't make senior citizens the way they did when I was growing up.) And, Phyllis (Cloris Leachman), at 76, looks unbelievable! The special featured very little that was new, as far as discussion and/or clips go. But, what was there is always great to see and hear again.

Like virtually *all* reunions, however, there was an element of disappointment for me. Although the exact same people, whom it's nice to see, may be there -- and sometimes even in the exact same place (as in the M*A*S*H reunion) -- it's just not the same . . . because the time is so different. To put it another way, I feel that seeing an 80-year-old Sue Ann Nivens on TV, more than anything else, serves to remind us of how many years have passed, and consequently depress us just a little.
