I was a big fan of Dexter. I say WAS because the idiotic writers ruined the show after season 5, but I digress. Anyway, with me also being a fan of UM, especially the unsolved murders and disappearances, it's only natural that I want to see the individuals who are responsible for these crimes shrink wrapped to Dexter Morgan's table. But, if I could only pick one, as is stated in my signature, it would be the Blind River killer.

I can’t help but think that Siobhán Fahey’s look in the Shakespeare’s Sister era was influenced a bit by Mariska Veres of Shocking Blue. As everyone knows, Fahey’s old band, Bananarama, had a huge hit with the song “Venus” in 1986 which was originally a Shocking Blue song from 1969. The dark hair and dark eyeliner that Veres sported in the 60s was a very unique look at the time, especially for a natural blonde. She was goth before goth was even a thing. Obviously Fahey was very familiar with Veres so she took the look even further in the 90s.

In addition and on a somewhat UM related note, Nirvana had some moderate success with a song called “Love Buzz” which was also a cover of a Shocking Blue song!

The Shocking Blue versions of both “Venus” and “Love Buzz” are both superior to the more well known cover versions too IMO. I encourage everyone to check out Shocking Blue if they aren’t already familiar with them. They were fantastic and way ahead of their time. ✌️

Back story is an apropos term. My early avatars here were a brunette USC coed in a white bikini, seated while facing the ocean.

Well aimed

Second one was a Canes lady in orange shorts reaching upward as if to pluck something off the shelves.

I admired the obvious effort involved and assumed that would be a popular avatar. Somehow no, at least not throughout the audience.

It should be noted that both gals were Tramp Stamp-less. If only the world were Trampless.

I may have misspelled that.

Regardless, for all the scoffs at the bell bottomed '70s or wild hair '80s, I'm not sure there has been a more absurd trend than Tramp Stamp.

Fortunately it earned an awesome nickname, and that's so rare for this era or recent eras.

Let's see, after the orange bottomed lady drew complaints that forum females were tired of those cheeks, I think I briefly veered to Resurrection Mary. That was a screen capture or something. I knew how to do that at the time.

Paul Pollis followed with many forums posts culminated with offer of a generous reward for arrest and conviction. As long as it wasn't him.

I'm unconvinced that wasn't the greatest moment in the history of the internet.

It had to be serenaded and preserved in some fashion. So I chose that case and the representative hamburger. Again via remarkably sophisticated screen capture, while trying to ignore the yellow garbage. Fortunately my eyesight isn't what it used to be.

I'd really like my avatar to be Adam Emery in mid plunge, with Burger King at glorious background. Cases come and go while the Whopper continues to dominate.

When I went online one of the first things I did was join a Partridge Family Message Board. At first people were very nice, then they turned on me among others. I never could understand it. We were just having a good time, and I in particular demanded why they acted nice to the point of fawning over some people, but were mean to me and my friends. Never did get any sensible answer. They made up some crap which made no sense. I raised the exact same issues on other boards and received decent answers. Meanwhile they were so mean and bossy to everyone they drove off anyone who had anything interesting to say and essentially killed the Message Board. I was unable to find another board and unable to listen to the music for years and with how things turned out with David Cassidy I may never do so again. I hoped that meeting Shirley Jones in real life would help things but it made them worse. It is an Unsolved Mystery why people want to act this way and are always determined to ruin a good thing.

As a child I had a crush on Chris. I wanted to be Chris--always pictured myself as a drummer from a young age. When I signed up to play the drums in the school band, every kid who asked for a certain instrument received said instrument, except drums. The rule was you had to study the bells for a year first. The next year, when my sisters joined the band and received their instruments, I never got drums. To this day I have still never received drums. This is an Unsolved Mystery, but I did learn that waiting for things in this life does no good whatsoever and being in a hurry to get things does very little more good if not actual harm. I love Unsolved Mysteries because it always confirmed that no matter how crappy my own life was, at least I didn't put myself in situations in which I was never seen alive again!

(This one, I really wish someone would help me with!) The one person I liked the most from the Partridge Family forum passed away, I have never learned the cause, and was not good enough friends with anyone else from that fandom to ask. I can supply a name and date for anyone who wants to be a detective.

The fans were two-faced, and Chris was two-faced, so I made Chris my avatar. Thanks for asking.

The very creepy (to me) unreleased police sketch of the yellow VW driver at the scene of the Moskowitz/Violante shooting, the last of the Son of Sam incidents that would lead to David Berkowitz's arrest.

They didn't really allude to it in the episodes of UM, but according to Maury Terry's book (which one probably has to take with a few grains of salt) a witness attempted to follow and chase down the yellow VW speeding away, but they weren't able to catch up or get enough of a read on the license plates to go anywhere with the investigation.

OK, I've changed mine to one of the creepiest scenes I saw on Crimewatch UK.

It's a still from the Michael Williams murder segment from the November 1988 edition. It's from the scene where a witness walking his dog in the woods comes across a man who is standing perfectly still (near where the murder took place), and does not even react when the dog barks at him. Eerie.
