Won't it be hard to find 31 that you haven't seen? Sometimes SyFy or AMC will show a bunch of horror movies during October. I don't know if they're doing it this year or not.

I've seen all of those, but is there a list somewhere that shows all of the movie he has aired? That might give me some I haven't seen yet.

Nah, there is still a lot of horror films I haven't seen, mostly I'll be watching films from the last 15 years or so as they're usually fairly easy to find streaming online. And there's quite a few older horror films I'm tracking down I haven't seen yet. One I'm looking for is the 1968 Mexican horror film Even The Wind Is Afraid.
Plus I belong to a site that tracks down obscure horror, I've got them looking for an early 2000s Halloween slasher called Sleepy Hollow High.

Torgo 10-03-2017, 07:15 PM According to IMDB Trivia, a younger version of Sally and Franklin Hardesty appear in Leatherface, but I didn't see anyone that would be them?

Been going through this list first, and making a list of ones I haven't seen. A few look like they're TV episodes like McCloud Meets Dracula, which I won't include as they won't count, but I gotta say I do want to see that one.
Curse of the Faceless Man (1958)
Pharaoh's Curse (1957)
Curse of the Black Widow (1977) And I thought I had seen all of Dan Curtis' stuff.
Black Magic Woman (1991) This one I'm not sure if I've seen or not, back then in 1991 I watched anything Mark Hamill, so I'll definitely look for this one. Plus it has Apollonia, who is very easy on the eyes...
Ritual of Evil (1970)
Within the Rock (1995)
The Whispering (1995)
Torgo 10-09-2017, 08:39 AM So far my favorite film has been the 1971 Italian film They Have Changed Their Faces, sort of a modern day update of Dracula.
My least favorite, The Final Project (2016), I'm usually very forgiving with found footage style horror films, but for a found footage film to work for me, it has the actors have to seem like they're not acting, but you're watching real life. Didn't work in this film.
Torgo 10-09-2017, 07:06 PM Gerald's Game, my second favorite viewing so far.
Torgo 10-10-2017, 09:20 AM The Appointment, my third favorite...
Torgo 10-10-2017, 11:50 AM These are some of the newer horror films (newer as in post-2014) I'm interested in watching...

Torgo 10-10-2017, 07:00 PM Happy Hunting is now my second favorite movie I've watched, I'm a sucker for The Most Dangerous Game/human hunting type flicks, and this is easily one of the best I've seen in years.
Torgo 10-11-2017, 06:59 PM Megan Is Missing has moved up to my Top 10 found footage list, at the same time I don't know if I could watch it again.
Torgo 10-12-2017, 08:45 AM Mama Dracula (1980) has become the worst film I've seen this month so far.
Torgo 10-12-2017, 09:34 PM 17 down, 14 to go...
Torgo 10-15-2017, 09:14 PM Should have checked to make sure it was categorized as horror, but the 1943 comedy The Ghost And The Guest, isn't, I usually check, oh well, it was a fun short little movie, just won't count for this challenge.
Retro4Life 10-15-2017, 09:21 PM Megan Is Missing has moved up to my Top 10 found footage list, at the same time I don't know if I could watch it again.
You mean because you found it disturbing?
Torgo 10-15-2017, 09:36 PM You mean because you found it disturbing?
Yes very. And heart-wrenching.

That kind of brings up something I've been noticing for a long time about the horror genre today.
It's not much fun. Yes, throughout the decades the genre has featured murders, gore, acts of depravity, etc. But today's horror tends to leave me so utterly depressed I'm often leery to come back (though I always do). The tendency to kill off ALL the characters and feature an ending where the villain/monster/whatever is completely and utterly triumphant leaves me drained. Again, I'm not saying the old Universal or Hammer horrors were "pepper uppers" but usually SOMEONE would survive with the villain being at least temporarily vanquished. The modern films often put our characters in a situation where there is basically nothing for them to do but scream and die, the situation is so hopeless.
And that's my rant for the evening, folks...be careful on the way home! :)

There's always been waves of certain types of horror films. For awhile we were getting mostly the dark nihilistic type, but now we're getting more and more back to evil being vanquished at the end. We're also getting old fashioned fun monster movies again like Grabbers. Recent films like The Babysitter, and ones from a few years ago like Tucker And Dale Vs Evil, and The Final Girls, horror films are getting to be fun again.

Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil was kinda hard to watch, in that it was rough seeing the guys accused of such horrors, lol. But yeah, it was a fun movie. We also enjoyed Curse of Chucky a LOT, and thought that ending was a PERFECT coda for the series.
Then they did Cult of Chucky; I'm just going to consider this an alt-universe thing and go with the Curse ending, lol.

But I was happy Dale go the girl at the end.:)
Haha yeah, I enjoyed Cult, but it was nowhere as good as Curse, Cult obviously they're banking on another sequel.
Speaking of that kind of ending, the Hatchet films did this, the first ended abruptly, but what I loved was part II picked right up where the first ended, same with between II and III. Done in a way you could edit all 3 movies into one long movie. These films are the definition of fun. Also each sequel tops the previous in the over the top gore department. I'm looking forward to the 4th which is releasing soon.
Torgo 10-17-2017, 09:52 PM For whatever reason, IMDB has Smartass (2017) listed as horror, it's not even remotely horror, BUT since it is listed that way on IMBD it does count for the challenge.

Sounds like something to check out, thanks!
Torgo 10-19-2017, 09:56 PM It Stains The Sands Red (2016), one of the better new zombie films I've seen in a long time.
Torgo 10-20-2017, 09:17 AM 25 down, 6 to go...
Torgo 10-22-2017, 10:58 AM Ended up watching 2 movies I had seen before, but it was what I was in the mood for- Scary Movie (1991), and The Devil's Hand (1961)
Torgo 10-24-2017, 08:34 PM 1 more film and I'll have met the minimum requirement to complete the challenge. There's people doing the challenge that have over double of the amount I watched. As much as I love movies I can't watch that many in a month. I would get burned out.
Torgo 10-30-2017, 10:29 AM So far: 37 movies. 27 were first time watches.

I hear ya. Nobody loves horror films more than I do (well, you, JamesG, and my girlfriend come close, LOL) but who has the time to watch THAT many films? Maybe if I'm ever lucky enough to be able to retire...till then, I'll just do what I can, when I can. :)

Long live the horror fans!
Yeah, some were averaging like 4 movies a day, some said they would watch a movie before work, then binge when they got home.
The amount I've done this month is more than I normally do. Plus I usually like to watch other genres.
The forum I'm doing the challeng on is now getting prepared for the November Turkey Challenge- movies of any genre, going by IMDB ratings, anything under a 5.0 rating will get you points, the lower the movie's score, the higher your points, I think it said movies with a 1.9 or lower is 6 points.
Think I'll pass though, after I finish this challenge tomorrow, I want to go back to my normal movie viewing habits.
Torgo 10-31-2017, 11:46 PM Challenge complete!
39 movies!
28 First Time Views.
I had planned on watching only movies I hadn't seen before, but sometimes my movie watching depends on my mood, and some films I just wanted to watch again.
Though I didn't get to see all of the movies I wanted, like the list of posters on the other page, I will get to them eventually.
My 5 favorite of the first time views:
Gerald's Game (2017)
They Have Changed Their Face (1971)
Happy Hunting (2017)
It Stains The Sands Red (2016)
The Appointment (1981)
Worst first time views:
Mama Dracula (1980)
Sleepy Hollow High (2000)
Halloween Tales (2017)
The Final Project (2016)
Unwanted (2016)
Re watching The Territory (1981) for the second time was a treat, a truly creepy slow burn horror film. Sad the film isn't more well known.
A fun memorable time was seeing the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Poltergeist at the theater with my daughter. Both films were a great audience experience.
Of course getting to see It (2017) again at the theater.
And not to mention re watching The Greasy Strangler. Seriously a one of a kind movie. It exists in its own universe. From the dialogue to the wardrobe.
