During "Good Times'" last two seasons (five and six), Jimmie Walker was absent from six episodes--"Willona's New Job," "That's Entertainment, Evans Style," "The Snow Storm," "Florida's Favorite Passenger: Part 2," "The Physical," and "A Matter Of Mothers."

For years, I had always wondered why Jimmie was a no-show in those episodes, but now I think I have the answer: Jimmie was working on the film "The Concorde...Airport '79" throughout the summer of 1978 (and possibly part of 1979 as well). He had a supporting role as Boisie, the reefer-smoking saxophonist. Speaking of "The Concorde...Airport '79," Jimmie appeared in a brief cameo as a windshield wiper man in the comedy film "Airplane!" the following year (co-written and co-directed by Jerry Zucker, David Zucker, and Jim Abrahams).

Drop me a line...I'd love to hear from all of you! Enjoy your evening!

I had already explained--or, rather, presented my theory on--Jimmie Walker's absence from "The Rent Party" (season three's finale) on a different thread, TVFactFan. As I theorized, Jimmie was absent from "The Rent Party" because he was filling in for Charles Nelson Reilly on "Match Game" for a two-episode stint in early 1976.
