I don't think Barney & Robin made a good couple for the sole reason that they are too much alike.

I think they are great as friends: I think the scene that best sums them up is when they're hanging out at Barney's club puffing cigars.

But they never worked for me as a romantic couple.

Sorry, never saw this show. Don’t get up, I’ll show myself out. But if you ever want to talk about Batman and Robin being a couple, give me a call.

It's a tough show to talk about because the characters aren't fixed very well. About the best thing you could say about Barney-Robin is that they each could only handle about half a relationship. Robin wants to travel everywhere and Barney wants his life to be about half mystery.
