As much as I liked the episode, the one thing that always bothered me was Mr. Carlson not divulging to the public during the debate he was having he decided against informing the pubic that the man he was running against the incumbent, had a drinking problem and came to work drunk.
Mr. Carlson convinced himself that he should not speak if it but I have always the opposite. As a citizen and a voter, I have the right to know if someone in public office is an alcoholic and/or on drugs so I can make an informed decision whether to re elect or reject this person.

I agree. I think the episode was written in outdated standards in mind. Of course if a politician is a drunk the voters have a right to know about it.

Actually I grew up in the 70's and this was basically the way things worked back then. It wasn't outdated for its time at all. Today its outdated for sure, but Winston Churchill could be called a drunkard in todays climate of bizarre thinking, and I think he did quite well for Great Britain in WWII, so lets not call all drunks unfit to hold public office.
For the most part, television shows from the 50's up until the 80's seemed to be able to keep politics out of their shows, to their betterment I might add.
Today, well it is what it is. I am so glad there is METV for me to watch. I don't watch the drivel that is passed to the masses each and every day now. Nothing but junk.
