Did you notice that in the episode "Father of the Year" that Marcia sneaks out of the house during the night to mail her entry?

Since the post office would have picked the letter up by about 5:00 p. m. that day (4:00 Saturday) wouldn't it have been logical to wait until the morning to mail it (as in put it in the big blue mailbox)? I mean, what's put into the mailbox at 2:00 a. m. will get delivered the same time even if placed sometime before 5:00 (4:00 Saturday).

Good point -- the contest probably wanted a postmark before midnight, and placing the letter in the box at 11:00 pm probably wouldn't get one.

That said, there are mailboxes where I live that have pickup as early as 8:00 am, so maybe Marcia wanted her letter to be in the first pickup (reaching, I know).

Ya know I had noticed that too, and I was thinking maybe she thought if she waited that morning somebody might see her mailing it. I dunno.

Up until a year or two ago the post office had an early morning pickup (around 5:30 AM) as well as an afternoon pickup. So, in that case, it was realistic for Marcia to get her letter to the post office in the middle of the night.
