This is it! The One You've Been Waiting For! Bonnie Franklin, Mackenzie Phillips, and Valerie Bertinelli star in One Day At A Time, the lively and liberated sitcom classic developed by Norman Lear, the television legend behind All In The Family, Maude, The Jeffersons, and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman.
One Day At A Time follows Ann Romano (Franklin), an independent woman who transplants herself and her two daughters - rebellious Julie (Phillips) and smart aleck Barbara (Bertinelli) - to Indianapolis in search of a new life. Moving into an apartment under the watchful eye and ever-present swagger of the building's quirky superintendent Schneider (Pat Harrington), the Romano women muddle through life, love, and laughs as they discover their own potential.
One of the most successful sitcoms of the 1970s and 1980s, One Day At A Time ran for nine hilarious and heartfelt seasons, won three Golden Globe Awards, and is finally available as a complete series set! With over 200 episodes, you're in for hours of laughter with the Romanos...so go and have a ball!Yesterday we passed along word from show cast member Mackenzie Phillips that One Day at a Time - The Complete Series was in-the-works for DVD, and would be available to buy "in time for the holidays." Today we've gotten confirmation of that!
Shout! Factory has announced that on December 5th they will release One Day at a Time - The Complete Series as a 27-DVD set, priced at $129.99 SRP. As far as confirming the bonus material Mackenzie said she recorded with Glenn Scarpelli (a main cast member from the sixth through eighth season), Shout! merely says, "Extras in progress and will be announced at a later date." They say that the nine-season package will include closed captions, however.
The studio also says this: "Special Offer: Order from ShoutFactory.com and get it shipped THREE WEEKS EARLY!"; we've got that link for you. Or, if you prefer to buy from Amazon.com, we've got that button link as well. Want to see the packaging? Well, as the theme song says, "So while you're here, enjoy the view!"...

I can't think of a woman offhand who is sexier than Miss Angie Dickinson. When some women on TV try to act sexy it can come off as forced or like they are trying too hard. ;)
With her it was just organic.
Maybe this is why I love guacamole so much. :happyface

Angie Dickinson was very sexy but very classy at the same time, which made her even more alluring.
*and this is coming from a straight woman*
I can see why men adored her :)
bmasters9 09-08-2017, 03:33 AM I like that cover art on this new One Day at a Time all-in-one. I might not necessarily purchase, but the cover art is not that bad at all.
1960'sTVfan 09-10-2017, 10:49 AM Assuming that all episodes will be uncut on the DVD's, I probably won't order the set until sometime after the new year when the holiday craze is over. I'm mostly interested in just seasons 1, 2, and 3 anyway, the rest not so much.
One thing I don't like about One Day At A Time is the multi-episode story arcs. All In The Family was known for doing this also. As far as sitcoms go, I prefer each episode to have it's own story and not carry over to 2, 3, or 4 episodes.

If they are good stories I like it! Like The Runaways, Julie's Wedding, Julie returns, Pride and Privacy! I could do without the multi parter where Ann was dating a married man:p and The older man with Julie was good. But I don't think it needed to be AS long as it was!!! ;)
Yeah and you are right. Maybe it will go on sale, price will be reduced after the holidays ! ;)

I will say that the four parter which starts off season two with Julie running away from home is pretty good. But overall I'm not a fan of multi-part episodes.
Seasons 4 thru 9 have some good episodes, but you know me and my fetish for longer haired Ann. However, season 4 is when Barbara/Val started looking hot so at least there's a trade off.

I think you would enjoy Pride and Privacy!;) It was just three parts and really funny! Season 8 . Barbara & Mark, just married were living in a run down student boarding house and Mark's idiot friend was making moonshine in the basement in a still and there was an explosion, and the building was condemned! They moved into Ann's apt. Meanwhile Julie came with the baby from Texas leaving Max , Max comes after her and the three of them move in Ann's too. Also Alex is already living there, making the apartment VERY crowded !! Funny hijinks ensue !! :D

Pride and Privacy, isn't that the 3 parter that ends with Sam entering the apartment riding a horse and Ann rides off with him on horseback?

Yep!!! That's the one!!!;) And how convenient and what a coincidence that Ann just HAPPENED to be wearing jeans and boots when that happened ! :D That was so silly, she looked all set for horseback riding and of course in the show , in the plot she had NO idea what was going on!! Not to mention how silly it was bringing a big horse up to a 4th floor apartment in the city! But it was a lot of fun!!
Sorry, but Ann had her hair short than! :( But my Max debuted his very cute brown pajama's in those eps.!!! :)

Yep it was silly, that's for sure. I saw those eps on Antenna TV before but it's been awhile since I've seen them.
Ann lost some of her sex appeal with the short hair. But she always had that cute, petite figure, that part of her didn't change. :)
counrfk 09-10-2017, 11:25 PM I hope all the episodes are uncut. My favorite seasons are 1, 2, and 3 when Julie and Barbara are teenagers in school. The series declined after season 4.

RetroTVNitekatt 09-11-2017, 02:11 PM Expect a rebuttal soon
The series evolved, partly by choice, partly by situations.
The later "One Day at a Time" are still much better than the post-James "Good Times" and The Post Mike & Gloria "All in The Family" (Except for the final season which transitioned into "Archie Bunker's Place".)

As another straight woman I completely agree with you.
She could have spilled a lot of dirt about the Kennedy's and The Rat Pack and kept her lips zipped like the classy woman she is.

Season one arguably evolved due to the brassy balls of Miss Franklin. I say this with love and due deference of course. ;)
Do you think the two leads on Good Times, Esther Rolle and John Amos were resentful of the clout Norman Lear gave this relative newcomer to television when their input was not encouraged or appreciated?
So much so that killed off James and Florida left for a year in disgust at the way their show was evolving.
Meanwhile Bonnie Franklin seemingly got her way on most everything up until the very end of the run.

Perhaps because she was right most of the time.
As it's been said, she had the same "pull" as Carroll O'Connor had on "All in The Family" and he even advised her to "stand up" when SHE went to him for advice during season one.
Bonnie was smart enough to go to the right person for advice. She gave the show everything till she was worn out, and even then she committed to one final season...

She was right about some stuff I agree. Getting rid of Ginny Wroblicki was her finest moment of pulling the strings. Thank you, Miss Franklin for that if you are reading this from the great beyond. ;)
But her African American counterparts didn't get the same respect. So as liberal as Lear supposedly is or was he let the Caucasian Americans have the power and gave short shrift to the leading Good Times actors whose wishes were continually ignored.
Not to mention how The Jefferson's didn't even get the chance to have a proper farewell despite eleven years on the airwaves! :(

I loved David but I agree.
His character deserved better than to be used like that. I just wish he got to leave angrily and not depart like the ***** whipped guy he was portrayed as being most of the time.
She got the last word/reaction shot in that episode. As usual.

That's totally on CBS and not Lear - they had completed the season before CBS canceled the series - the rating for it's last year were low.
But they did the same thing to Carroll O'Conner by canceling ABP which was still a top 25 show without a final episode, either. They renewed shows with lower ratings that year!

So Lear had no power left at the network at that point? Couldn't he have stepped in somehow and protected the show that made him rich by demanding that the network treat The Jefferson's better by giving them a heads up about it being their final season? Was he still actively involved in running his shows at that point or did he just let his underlings just handle everything?
They got the same disrespectful treatment Joyce DeWitt did now that I think of it. NRW produced both shows, right?

This was around the same time Embassy was sold to Columbia and Lear had cut his day-to-day involvement in his final show on the air, more or less.
I have a feeling the cancellation was an "11th Hour" sort of thing with "The Jeffersons", and "Archie Bunker's Place" was network politics. (The combined AitF and ABP was 13 seasons even if they were not the same show)

Preference noted, and I'm generally that way too; Barney Miller did that quite a few times, most notably that "Landmark" finale at the end of the series in 1982.
