View Full Version : Antenna TV Credit Crunch Plater of Everything 09-06-2017, 07:31 PM Did Antenna TV reduce their credit crunching? So far, Three's Company, Welcome Back Kotter, and What's Happening have had their actual credits played full sized tonight. Svenfan1234 09-06-2017, 07:53 PM I have no idea. Bewitched into Bewitched episode 2 had credits completely cut out, and Bewitched episode 2's credits were cut out too. Not sure about Barney Miller, but Newhart had full credits tonight. Plater of Everything 09-06-2017, 07:54 PM Dear John's credits were crunched this morning Svenfan1234 09-06-2017, 07:56 PM That's too bad. :( BigManMike 09-06-2017, 09:16 PM What about 227? BigManMike 09-06-2017, 09:31 PM Just checked it, they didn't crunch The Jeffersons either. Maybe it's a sign of good things to come. mets82 09-06-2017, 09:33 PM I thought Welcome Back, Kotter didnt have end credit crunch during there Labor Day Marathon. icecream 09-06-2017, 09:33 PM Welcome Back, Kotter has had full closing credits the last 2 days at 6:30 and it was full screen at the beginning too. Svenfan1234 09-06-2017, 10:02 PM All in the Family had full closing credits. Plater of Everything 09-06-2017, 10:10 PM I hope Family Ties will, I've always wanted to see the full (B)Ubu logo Svenfan1234 09-06-2017, 10:12 PM Please be kind and post what happens:wave: Plater of Everything 09-06-2017, 10:23 PM What about 227? It wasn't shrunken Plater of Everything 09-06-2017, 11:29 PM No crunch on Newhart! mets82 09-06-2017, 11:54 PM You know what? Lets watch and see if they do the credit crunch or not. Do they still do commercial breaks at odd times? treky 09-07-2017, 12:14 AM hey, maybe they ARE cutting back on the credit crunch and soon they'll stop it altogether!:) If that's the case, then they're probably starting to save enough money by doing it that they can afford to stop it. Because the reason stations do it is to save money. Bonniegirl 09-07-2017, 12:28 AM I don't really mind the crunchy credits ! But of course I'd prefer they weren't .:) But it doesn't bother me too much!;) treky 09-07-2017, 12:49 AM I don't mind it as much as I used to since I heard why they do it but it still bothers me. Plater of Everything 09-07-2017, 07:02 AM Family Ties credits didn't even show, cutting straight to Wings. Dear John is still shrunk BigManMike 09-07-2017, 07:31 AM Joey Bishop was crunched this morning with a long ad promoting Antenna Tv I see. I just hope that version of the crunch doesn't come back to prime time. stevea 09-07-2017, 08:04 AM They just crunched Joey Bishop into Burns and Allen. (idiots!) mets82 09-07-2017, 11:08 AM hey, maybe they ARE cutting back on the credit crunch and soon they'll stop it altogether!:) If that's the case, then they're probably starting to save enough money by doing it that they can afford to stop it. Because the reason stations do it is to save money. I dont see the reason why they credit crunch. I mean to show a 30 second promo that we have already seen? 1960'sTVfan 09-07-2017, 12:48 PM I think Antenna TV still does the credit crunches, but for whatever reason sometimes they don't do it. The worst "crunch" they do is the one where it goes to split screen, and the left side has the closing credits of the previous episode while the right side is showing the opening scene of the next episode. That is absolutely ridiculous. I had a pleasant surprise a few months ago when Antenna ran the first two episodes of The Joey Bishop Show, (season 1, episodes 1 and 2) I recorded the episodes and they were not credit crunched, both had the full screen closing credits. :) MA 09-07-2017, 12:52 PM When I was watching the brady bunch christmas special taken from ABC Family on YouTube, there was credit crunching. The credits from the previous movie (or TV show) (?) I believe was on the left side, while the opening scene of the brady special was on the right side. BigManMike 09-07-2017, 08:31 PM Just checked tonight and Sanford and Son was crunched with some stupid promo. Those idiots must be at it again. I hope once Sinclair takes over they will put an end to this nonsense. Plater of Everything 09-07-2017, 08:44 PM TBH I don't even care, the way y'all go on, it seems y'all would rather have it be "24 Hour Classic Credits TV" treky 09-07-2017, 09:04 PM no, we just want the shows seen the way they were originally shown like ME TV, H & I, DECADES and STARZ/ENCORE WESTERNS does. BigManMike 09-07-2017, 09:07 PM no, we just want the shows seen the way they were originally shown like ME TV, H & I, DECADES and STARZ/ENCORE WESTERNS does. Exactly. And I like to hear the closing music at the end and not having it ruins it for me. mets82 09-07-2017, 09:17 PM Welcome Back, Kotter was credit crunched. Again, I dont know why. It was for an Antenna TV promo. Why do we need a promo when we are watching the channel? PhoenixAcres 09-07-2017, 09:42 PM Exactly. And I like to hear the closing music at the end and not having it ruins it for me. Yep. A show should never be separated from its credits. Credits (and music) are part of the full experience of watching a show. stevea 09-07-2017, 09:58 PM Those stupid promos are the worst. Morph back 10 years, and that is exactly what TV Land used to do with credits. Stupid then, stupid now. I long for what Antenna TV was, when it started. stevea 09-07-2017, 10:00 PM All in the Family now, another dumb promo/credit crunch I've seen a zillion times. Along with all their stupid lawsuit ads, $19 a month ripoff ads, et. al. BigManMike 09-07-2017, 10:12 PM Those stupid promos are the worst. Morph back 10 years, and that is exactly what TV Land used to do with credits. Stupid then, stupid now. I long for what Antenna TV was, when it started. Yes I remember when TVLand started credit crunching with promos back in the fall of 2005. I hated it then and I hate it now on Antenna TV. I didn't like that Antenna showed so many movies when they first started but at least then, there was no credit crunch and all the closing credits were played the way they were meant to be. If they had to bring back movies, I would be all for it if they could get rid of the credit crunch, even if I don't watch them. stevea 09-07-2017, 10:20 PM ^And they actually played some shows unedited, when they could. Bachelor Father is one example--all the episodes they had (and there weren't many) were original length. BigManMike 09-09-2017, 12:03 AM Checked tonight and they did the unthinkable. They did the split screen crunch on One Day at a Time. Haven't watched this channel in two years and don't ever plan to again. I can't wait for that complete series DVD set from Shout in December. MA 09-09-2017, 06:39 AM All in the Family now, another dumb promo/credit crunch I've seen a zillion times. Along with all their stupid lawsuit ads, $19 a month ripoff ads, et. al. I'm not a fan of BUZZR's ads either. Plater of Everything 09-09-2017, 10:45 AM Checked tonight and they did the unthinkable. They did the split screen crunch on One Day at a Time. The only reason you're not watching it is because the credit crunch? Bonniegirl 09-09-2017, 03:19 PM The only reason you're not watching it is because the credit crunch? The Big Cookie REALLY, REALLY hates the credit crunch!;) :( Has expressed this dislike and not watching Antenna cause of it many times!;) Plater of Everything 09-09-2017, 03:49 PM The Big Cookie REALLY, REALLY hates the credit crunch!;) :( Has expressed this dislike and not watching Antenna cause of it many times!;) What is Cookie trying to accomplish? PhoenixAcres 09-09-2017, 03:50 PM The Big Cookie REALLY, REALLY hates the credit crunch!;) :( Has expressed this dislike and not watching Antenna cause of it many times!;) Yeah he's one of the most passionate members of the anti-crunch movement. I can respect and sympathize with that but personally, when it comes down to it I'll still watch the show. mets82 09-09-2017, 04:01 PM Checked tonight and they did the unthinkable. What's a split screen credit crunch? Btw, to be fair, did you like TVLand when it was good, they used to crunch the credits but that was for little tidbits or information on the next show or episode, which I found kind of interesting. Btw, to be fair, did you like TVLand when it was good, they used to crunch the credits but that was for little tidbits or information on the next show or episode, which I found kind of interesting. Yeah, TV Land was find then. That crunch didn't bother me because they didn't mute the music and I could still hear it although the voice was kind of loud. Split screen crunch is when the credits of one show are playing in a small box on the left side of the screen while the beginning of another show is starting at the same time in a larger box on the right side of the screen. That's what Antenna does on most of their shows and I hate it. TBS does something similar to this too. MA 09-09-2017, 08:06 PM Yeah, TV Land was find then. Doesn't that happen for movies? treky 09-10-2017, 12:38 AM Doesn't that happen for movies? yes it does.:( :( That's why the only movie channel I watch is TCM. MA 09-10-2017, 06:18 AM yes it does.:( :( That's why the only movie channel I watch is TCM. Lucky you. We don't get TCM. Plater of Everything 09-10-2017, 09:55 PM They sped up Newhart, and PITCH SHIFTED it Svenfan1234 09-10-2017, 10:01 PM ^That wasn't Antenna, that was on the prints they received of Newhart Plater of Everything 09-10-2017, 10:02 PM ^That wasn't Antenna, that was on the prints they received of Newhart Were the prints PAL as opposed to NTSC? Svenfan1234 09-10-2017, 10:05 PM Were the prints PAL as opposed to NTSC? No idea but I do know that Antenna does not make edits of their own . stevea 09-10-2017, 10:10 PM Btw, to be fair, did you like TVLand when it was good, they used to crunch the credits but that was for little tidbits or information on the next show or episode, which I found kind of interesting. This "crunch" goes even farther back, and it was really good. Probably back in the days of Twice as Nice Mornings (when two episodes was enough...now they have a minimum of four) and Retromercials. Then they changed it (I could have been a lot snarkier here...I could have said some greedy Viacom idiot decided they needed to make money every single second, but I won't go there), and started in with their stupid promos on the split screen, like Antenna many times does. |
