Hey guys,
On this Labor Day 2017, marks 30 years since Tom Kennedy's Final Game Show Wordplay aired its Final Episode
Now for those of you that don't know:
Wordplay was a short-lived Game Show that aired on NBC from December 1986 to September 1987, and ended up being Tom Kennedy's final show. It was produced by Fiedler/Berlin Productions (who would later go on to produce Treasure Mall, Trump Card and Wink Martindale's Trivial Pursuit) and Scotti-Vinnedge Television (best known for producing America's Top 10 with the late Casey Kasem).
Wordplay lasted 39 consecutive weeks on NBC when it replaced the long-running Daytime Soap Series Search for Tomorrow and was Videotaped at NBC Studios in Burbank, CA
However, after 39 weeks, the series was cancelled and was replaced by Win, Lose or Draw with Game Show Queen Vicki Lawrence
During the show's 39 week run on NBC Daytime, THE Biggest Jackpot in the Double Definition Round was $27,500 and that was won the 3rd to last episode of the series
Wordplay is now owned by Fremantlemedia who not only acquired Scotti-Vinnedge Television, but also, it's parent company All American Television
Syd Vinnedge would also serve as the Executive Producer of The Price is Right with Drew Carey after Bob Barker's retirement and Syd would produce the show until he retired and is currently produced by Former host of GSN's Pyramid in Mike Richards
