Showtime has set a new documentary series about mass shooting. "Active Shooter: America Under Fire" is an eight-part docuseries premiering Sept. 29 that will offer an in-depth exploration of mass shootings and their devastating consequences.
From the first-hand perspective of survivors, families of the victims, witnesses and heroic first responders, the project goes beyond the sensationalistic coverage of the tragic moments to offer a comprehensive report on the events.
The docuseries will strive to create a forum for understanding, discussion and debate, keeping the lives and loss of the victims paramount amid the need to confront this grave pandemic.
Each of the episodes focuses on one of the numerous shooting incidents that have occurred in the U.S. to provide a thoughtful and comprehensive examination of one of the most important issues of our time.
"Active Shooter" is executive produced by Eli Holzman (Undercover Boss, Project Runway) and Aaron Saidman (Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath) of The Intellectual Property Corporation, as well as Star Price (Penn & Teller: Bull****!), who also serves as the docuseries’ showrunner.
The episodes will feature:
- "Dark Knight Rises" Shooting at Aurora Mall, CO. (July 20, 2012)
- Inland Regional Center Shooting in San Bernardino, CA. (December 2, 2015)
- Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church Shooting in Charleston, SC. (June 17, 2015)
- Washington D.C. Navy Yard Shooting (September 16, 2013)
- Santa Monica, CA. Shooting (June 7, 2013)
