Quite a few segments I don't remember... 'Amazon Women', 'The Blob', 'Vampire Kids'. I think I missed all of those

'Cosby Kid'...must be Ennis. I don't remember that segment either

I am pleasantly surprised by how quickly this Season got released, only 22 Days!!!!!!! Most of the Seasons have taken 30-35 days to get released.

They labeled the first Dennis Farina season as 'season 14'.

So it goes -

CBS mini-Season 1 - Season 10
CBS mini-Season 2 - Season 11
Lifetime season 1 - Season 12
Lifetime season 2 - Season 13

the two cbs 'seasons' are really short though - less than 10 episodes each. Also, my recollection of the two lifetime seasons when they first aired is that they had alot of rerun filler as part of the episodes. If you look at the episode list on the wikia, you'll see alot of 15 minute or 10 minute segments listed only, but I remember reruns in there.

Will be interesting to see how they fill up that time.

I'm still hoping that putting their old catalog (or most of it anyway) out there is a signal that they will finally do a new series with totally new segments.

Watching the teasers now...there are more memorable cases then I thought.

The JonBenet case is on this season, which Stack noting that it happened five weeks earlier.

And yet I don't ever remember seeing the Magic Rock from season 1 on lifetime! You think that would have been perfect for filler.

There are still some very good cases in Season 9 and some iconic lines ("Susan, you're being bad again!"). But there are WAY too many silly stories like the message in a bottle and the fertility statues. I still wonder if they were trying to broaden the appeal, if they ran out of true crime stories, or if they producers started experimenting with mind altering drugs (I'm kidding, of course).

I prefer the true crime stuff and I don't mind the occasional diversion, but Seasons 8 and 9 have a ridiculous amount of fluff. It really does make you appreciate the UM Specials and early seasons so much more. The stories were better (for the most part) but the storytelling and music was SO MUCH BETTER.

Wow I seriously had no clue Unsolved Mysteries did a segment on Whitey Bulger while he was a fugitive. Considering the movie and documentary on Bulges and the FBI in the last few years, it's funny to see him profiled on UM shortly after fleeing.

I chose an episode from this season at random this afternoon and watched it. It was episode 10, which involved Dennis Keith Smith.

The guy was thankfully arrested after murdering AGAIN and he hung himself in his cell in 2004. (Good riddance). But the more shocking aspect of this segment was always Dustin Johnson's grandparents allowing Dennis to move in the house once he was released from jail, despite killing Dustin's mother.

I don't know the specifics of what the family dynamic was and whether or not these people went to some alternate reality in their heads to convince themselves that Dennis didn't mean to MURDER his sister but bringing him into their house and forcing Dustin to live with the man who killed his mother was not only cruel but psychologically damaging. Despite 15 years passing since his mother's death, the wounds clearly had not even begun to heal for Dustin at the time of his interview, which he could barely get through without crying.

These grandparents have got to be right up there with Beverly Noe in being one of the most despicable people on UM that weren't interviewed. How did they live from day to day? Did they treat the murder thing in their house as the big elephant in the room? And did none of their friends or loved ones take them aside and tell them, "Don't do this! You're going to destroy your grandson's soul."

Wait wait WAIT does this mean I can finally get high definition Sharon Kinne?!

Just take a look at the Men in Black segment. That thing was a freaking joke, and it's the Men in Black. Imagine if they would have done a Men in Black segment earlier in the show's run, that would have been an all time great segment. It would have been at least 20 minutes.

Yes, 3 more Seasons will be getting released by the end of the year.

Season 10 will be the two CBS seasons.

Season 11 will be the 2001 Lifetime Season.

Season 12 will be the 2002 Lifetime Season.

Which is why I'm re-watching season 1 again. Who can forget Stack's sandy-looking hair or some of those corduroy jackets he wore? (see the Woonsocket segment).

Seriously though, I know of a local crime around here that would've made one of these later seasons a lot better (posted about it in one of the other threads - not the 'True Crime Shows', but the other one.....), the extra fluff really killed things (think the show might've lived on w/o it)

I am also more and more appreciative of the first seasons of the show.

After hitting season five or so, it is taking much longer to watch the later seasons. In the beginning, I watched each and every special (regardless of how strange it was). Now in season eight, I am skipping anything not related to murder or the missing.

I can't believe I have to WAIT for everyone to experience the glorious segment that is the Sharon Kinne segment. Then we get margaritaaaaas and pinataaaas, feigning obviousness when a dead woman is laying mere feet from your car, shacking up with a hispanic boy toy hairdresser who was out sick the day they covered acting in acting clas and who gives her a new hairdo that is literally the exact same wig, a little girl who also can't act, showing up fashionably late to court, and getting drunk with Hispanic boy toy and shooting him...all in glorious HD!

I am kind of surprised when some Lost Loves aren't updated. The twin sister segment for example.

The DC lady murdered and set on fire could just be a random act.
