LITB is now on from 8-9 am every weekday. No longer on in afternoon.

I still can't get over how badly written Beaver Won't Eat is. Especially in the restaurant the way no one looks at their plate. Beaver is the last to see the Brussels sprouts. June acts very strange in restaurant.

From the babysitter named Mrs. Bronson to June's poor decision, to the restaurant scene you mentioned (I think we've said in a previous thread that June should have told that buttinsky lady, after her second butt, to take a hike), the episode is poorly written. The credits show it was written by an outsider (but the teleplay was still Connelly/Mosher, who should have changed the Mrs. Bronson name). I think we also said in another thread that any restaurant would have a choice of vegetables.

The scene at the end with Beaver, June and Ward at the kitchen table, partially made up for it.

What saved the episode for me was Eddie saying to Beaver, "Hold the fort, kid - they're about ready to crack!" (referring to Ward and June).

Yeah that was a good one too. Right in character. Also, "I hope I didn't interrupt whatever you were peeking at."

Eddie was being very disrespectful. First of all just barging into their house and next making very rude remarks about not being able to trust a child that you have to spy on him. He was a real creep and Ward should have said something instead of commenting "Oh that kid!" Eddie was starting to show his true colors of what he was capable of doing.

When Beaver is sitting at the table anguishing over the cold Brussels sprouts, June brings in two glasses of milk. Why? Who wants milk and sprouts. That Mrs. Bronson bit was so odd. Why not Mrs. Miller or Mrs. Wilson. Ward looking at everyone and smiling while they look at their dinners was down right peculiar.

Ward should have said, "Next time, Eddie, knock."

What happened in this episode is mild, compared to Eddie changing Beaver's grade, later.

Yeah Beaver Won't Eat wasn't one of the best, June forcing Beaver to eat them when there were plenty of healthy vegetables he did like. She could have just had him eat the outsides of peas.

Also I agree, June should have told the lady at the restaurant to mind her own business.

I just saw a season 5 episode where Wally's supposed to go to some sports event that he's participating in, he gets Ward's permission to go with Lumpy in his heap to go. BUT Lumpy's car won't work, so now Ward's at work, Lumpy's at the door with the bad news and Wally now thinks he can't go. Lumpy tells Wally he can drive Ward's car there, Wally ask his mother for permission, she can't make up her mind, calls Ward, he says OK but no one else in the car. THey leave and then pick up Eddie on the way, coming back Lumpy speeds Ward's car thru a muddy puddle etc etc.

THE point of all this is, WHY COULDN'T JUNE HAVE JUST TAKEN WALLY THERE HERSELF IN WARD'S CAR?????? Why did June even have to call Ward to see if Lumpy could drive their car, all she had to do was drive Wally and Lump there herself. In this episode they really went overboard turning June into a helpless lump.

Yeah I never thought of that, June drives the car all the time for errands, shopping, pearl necklace maintenance, so her driving them to the meet wouldn't have been a big deal for her.
