I was disappointed to see this. So we are only getting PJ one day a week?

Now in addition to losing Mr Ed, we only get one episode of MTS.

Odd that they are now doing 1 MTS episode followed by 2 Beavers, instead of the reverse. It's not like they haven't run Beaver a million times, so why not wait until January, when MTS has gotten through its "new" episodes, to make the switch.

Yeah, they're about to start season 5. This is the season where Frawley exits, and Demarest enters.

Maybe in this season they won't try to pass off Chip and Ernie as being the same age.

With Demarest's arrival, we'll have the first major cast change and accompanying opening credits alteration. Interestingly, in an ep recently aired, Bub mentioned he spent 4 years in the U.S. Navy, while of course we know his brother Charley served in the Merchant Marines.

I think we get our first look at Sebastian Cabot as Sally Morrison's dad in the upcoming season; we've already seen her mom (Doris Singleton) and 2 sisters.

Cabot does not appear much, from what I recall, but along with other actors over the many seasons like Herbert Anderson, William Boyett, Benson Fong, Randy Whipple, Leslie Parrish, and Joan Vohs, there are many who did appear on both M3S and Fedderson's Family Affair.

Doug-oh: You will find M. MacRae in most episodes of Petticoat Junction from Season 4 (1966-67) through the series conclusion (Season 7, 1969-70). You may note that in her first season, the producers tried to match her look somewhat to Jeannine Riley and Gunilla Hutton, with lots of partial updo hairstyles and ringlets. Later she adopts straight styles.

I had to record the shows in an hour long block before because if I tried to split the recording in 2 either the end credits of show 1 would be cut off or the very beginning of show 2 would be slightly cut. All because ME TV does not allow any commercial breaks in between the 2 broadcasts, one show gets over and the next starts up right away. This meant I could not call each recording of the day by it's titles & instead I would "title" the recording by saying: S.3 Episodes 2 & 3 etc.

COZI TV is good in that way, they end one show about 2 minutes before the hour then they start the next show on the hour. Leaving you time for the recorder to turn itself off and back on again without cutting off credits. Just a little inside info. on the life of recording these things. :crazy:

I'm always discovering new features on my 2005 DVD recorder--you might check and see if yours has a "Divide Title" function (for future use). Mine does, and it's quite useful--it divides one title into two titles. MeTV puts just just enough "room" between episodes for this to work.

I just typed a long detailed response to the ins and outs of the recorder & it all just disappeared. Now typing pauses with every letter I type. Website gone whacky, will type later.

I’m assuming you own Panasonic recorders like me. I’m aware of that “Divide Title” option, as I’ve used it, BUT it’s only available to use on DVD-RAM discs, NOT on DVD-R discs. I use DVD RAM discs for recording temporary shows (ones I don’t want to save) like Judge Judy various DIY shows etc. those you can record and erase and record again and again without using up the recording space the way a normal DVD-R or +R disc does.

But, like you, I only discovered this feature after years of owning the recorder by experiment, same with the other feature discovered years after buying, thru trial and error again I discovered the way to save a picture for the Menu Screen of each recording on the disc. So in addition to just typing in a title I can also save a screen shot from the recording to use as a Menu Screen scene for the individual recording. I’ll use the title card for a movie or the sequential opening titles of a TV series show for menu “screen shots”.

By the way, due to the bad website today, I’m typing all this in a word document and copying it to the message board otherwise it’d disappear on me again or take 2 months to complete typing.:eek:

I use the Divide Title feature on the "HDD", which I assume means Hard Disk Drive. The DVD recorder (a Panasonic DMR-EH50 from 2005) has an internal disk drive, on which I record, and subsequently edit, all shows. Then I use the dubbing function to dub to a DVD-R. I'm aware that a lot of DVD recorders don't have this hard drive to record on. It's a great setup, and my newer one doesn't have it.

I think it's lasted as long as it has because I'm careful to make sure the hard drive recordings don't become fragmented; I record them, edit them, get them on DVD-R, and erase them.

Yes, I just discovered another function the other day, whereby you can checkmark multiple titles, and put them on the dubbing list (or delete them) more easily. It's all in the manual, of course, but it's complicated...

BTW totally off topic (like this DVD discussion isn't), Judge Judy is getting another show, on Fox News, debuting Sunday night.

I think the My Three Sons world is like "Pleasantville" - the rest of the USA exists offscreen but the characters usually have no need to go there

Speaking of the rest of the U.S., Steve of course is off travelling on assignment many, many times -- including a harrowing scene in a bathtub/shower while out of town, where he manages to avoid being shot...!

Audio quality continues to be an issue with these episodes' prints -- still though it's a great way to spend a half-hour (or 20-something mins.)

I bought my first DVD recorder in 2005 also, but it was "LITE-ON" recorder. I still have it but the tray no longer comes in or out. The good thing about it is that it could read any disc I put in it, something the Panasonic won't always do.
Since that first Lite-On I've bought Panasonic recorders only, as I find them the easiest to work with. But the HDD thing sounds like a great invention I wish all the Panasonics had. I could do something similar to you though, but I'd have to record all shows on a DVD-Ram disc first, from there edit it down and transfer that over to DVD-R. But it's too much trouble and I think the quality would suffer being a dub of an original rather than the original straight to DVD recording that I get now. But back when I recorded Bachelor Father on RTV they started showing lots of episodes they already showed but once in a while they slipped in a not shown episode. So rather than create dozens more discs of "repeats" of shows I already recorded, I DID use my DVD-RAM disc to record the show, then I'd check it out, if it was a new one I then transferred it to DVD-R. That way saving myself loads of repeats and yet still getting the once in a while not shown before episode.

Is Bryant Park in Ohio?

Its specific location likely will never be resolved, though the Midwest is the likely setting. An IMDb user places the town in Michigan, but that's unsubstantiated. While the color episodes mention Indianapolis a couple of times, I've not seen support for Indiana.

Others have mentioned Illinois. I've even seen some discussion as to placing Bryant Park as a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. This seems unlikely however, as one episode mentions a call to Chicago as incurring a "long distance" toll.

The producers seem to have deliberately kept Bryant Park's location a mystery. I might add that by contrast, in Family Affair we know that the Davis Family has roots in the real city of Terre Haute in southern Indiana -- and they revisit on a trip.

So we have one Fedderson show that's very firm about not naming a state for Bryant Park, while the other deals with the real cities of Terre Haute and NYC right from its beginning.

A lot of shows from that era, for some reason, use fictional towns with no state. All the B/W Screen Gems shows are in fictional settings. There's been tons of speculation about Mayfield in Leave it To Beaver.

Desilu's biggie, Lucy, was set in New York, but one of its minor shows, Our Miss Brooks, was in an unknown, unnamed city.

I just saw an episode of The Love Boat yesterday, Sunday as usual.

Tony Dow, who played Wally Cleaver in the Cleaver household on Leave it to Beaver, is in a later season Love Boat ep.
He plays a character called WALLY CLEAVER !!!

I haven't seen that ep. Looking over where ME-TV is in its showings (I believe it's in the early-mid 80s eps.), it will be a long time before the Tony Dow one (from 1988 or so) appears...

But I wanna see it.

I agree. I guess he was done. And in the ep. before that, the Divorce, Bryant Park Style one which was on Me-TV on Thursday, Bub wasn't seen much. William Frawley was only seen in one scene, so he must be getting sick already. And there will also be an ep. where Mike departs with Sally after their wedding in the first colored ep. which is the only color ep. with Tim Considine and Meredith MacRae where they are briefly seen at the beginning before their departure like William Frawley in that ep. this past Friday.
