I myself personally prefer the GP one. :)

I like the medium version. This is the version that NBC used for every episode when it was originally on. Lifetime plays this version on the episode Blanche Delivers.

When the series went into syndication, the long and short versions were created to accomodate for editing. Lifetime now uses the short version for almost all episodes, but the long one is used for a handful of episodes.

As for the scenes shown in the opening credits, for some reason, Lifetime only uses the 1986-1989 version for all episodes from every season.

1985-1986 Credits:

Bea's credit: Scene from the Pilot (probably)
Betty's: Scene from Job Hunting (probably)
Rue's: Unkown
Sophia's: Scene from Break-In (probably)

1986-1989 Credits:

Bea's credit: Scene from the Pilot
Betty's: Scene from Job Hunting
Rue's: Scene from Take Him, He's Yours
Sophia's: Scene from Break-In

1989-1992 Credits:

Bea's credit: Scene from the Pilot
Betty's: Scene from Job Hunting
Rue's: Scene from Sophia's Choice
Sophia's: Scene from High Anxiety

I loved the extended version, or I should say the original, long version. I'm always delighted when Lifetime actually plays the whole theme song, which they will do every once in a great while!!! :)

I know this isn't the place, lol, but does anyone have any episodes of GG from the original NBC run with the original opening? I would love to see it, and I always knew that Lifetime used different opening credits since seeing the GG logo on the 75th anniversary special.. E-mail me or PM me if you have any episodes!

The first time I heard the Golden Palace theme, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry because it was so HORRIBLE. They should have ended the show with the last episode of GG! Anyway, I prefer the long version of the GG theme. The short one is cheap and I feel cheated! Either that or the medium-long GG version. But bag that GP theme. It was terrible IMO !

I like the long version of the theme to the "Golden Girls" called "Thank You for Being a Friend". I can't stand the "Golden Palace" theme.

I like the medium one. I find the long one is way too long. The medium is just right! But I also feel cheated with the short one.

Sophia's season 5-7 is not from High Anxiety, I have the season 4 dvd, and it's defenetely NOT from that episode. I have no idea of the real episode it comes from, but Sophia's is not from High Anxiety

On the first season Dvd opening credits, in Blanche's close up, she is wearing an animal stole. This was changed by the second season, but the other scenes stayed the same. Makes me wonder if animal rights groups said something.

I love the long version. If I had my way I'd play the song all the time. I just loved the show. I'd most likely would have loved to have them all as a Grandmothers. I was 10 when the show started and 17 when it ended. My own Grandmother is still alive and she's 91 years old!!

In order starting with
Dorothy- out spoken- never lets anyone / anything get in her way(like I am)
Rose- The fun one (would have had a lot of laughs) Would have let me do what ever I wanted.
Blanche ( the shopping buddy)
Sophia- Tells a great story( my own Grandmother was from Germany and she still tells stories about how she grew up.
