Ok, so here is my attempt at a Division fanfic. I haven't written one in six months at least, so go easy on me;) Any comments and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated greatly. I'm not good at short installments, so this is long and slow to begin with... Anyway, here we go.
"Not By Chance"
There he was, Theodore Blumenthal. He innocently stood in front of the Anchorside, dressed in his black suit, blue tie, and with briefcase in hand. He was starring at her, a look of hurt in his eyes but a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. She squinted her eyes, wondering what he was thinking as he stared at her. She locked her eyes with his as she began to cross the road in order to reach him. Once in the middle of the road she paused as a car crossed in front of her, causing her to loose eye contact for a brief second, and once the car passed she looked to regain sight of him, but it was too late. He was gone, mysteriously vanishing once again…
Jinny Exstead awoke in a hurry. She bolted upright in bed, finding herself trying to catch her breath and drenched in sweat. She stared out her bedroom window into the dark and dreary night as the sweat dripped from her forehead into her eyes and caused the salt to sting her pupils. She grimaced as her eyes began to water up in pain, but quickly wiped the sweat away from her eyes and forehead with the back of her palm. She inhaled deeply and then exhaled, trying to release all her stress in that one breath. She pushed the hair out of hair eyes and stared out the window in hopes of seeing the moon and its brightness, but to no avail. She rolled her eyes. Her attempt at a peaceful night’s rest was officially over, and she had only been asleep two hours. She threw the covers off her and flung herself over to the side of the bed. “Darn you, Teddy,” she said aloud, but not loud enough for her father to hear in the next room. She grabbed a clip that was sitting on the nightstand beside her bed and pulled her hair back with it. She stood and stretched as she slowly made her way to the shower. She was wide-awake now whether she liked it or not and according to her it was all Theodore’s fault. If she hadn’t of bumped into him at the Division earlier that day she would not have dreamt about him that night. ‘Well, not really dreamt about him,’ Jinny thought to herself. ‘More like had a nightmare concerning him.’
The nightmare had come as no surprise though. She hadn’t been able to keep her mind off him the entire afternoon she had spent trying to work with Magda, and at dinner she stared off into space so long that finally John Jr. had offered to take her down to the station to get a blood test so he could prove she was as ‘high as a blue bird in a thunderstorm.’ Jinny rolled her eyes once again. John Jr. came up with the dumbest analogies,’ she told herself.
Jinny slowly undressed, taking off her sweatpants and navy blue, SFPD shirt and then finally her undergarments. She stepped into the shower and turned it on. The water blasted out of the spicket, causing Jinny to shriek and kick the shower door in pure frustration. “Darn whoever fouled up the hot water,” she yelled at the top of her lungs as she turned the water off and grabbed the towel that was hanging atop the shower door. She quickly wrapped the towel around her and exited the shower as she muttered profanities under her breath.
Five hours later, after Jinny had finished watching two movies, eating three bags of popcorn, drinking two liters of coke, four bottles of chocolate syrup, and doing anything else imaginable to pass the time, she limped down the stairs and into the kitchen. Her father was sitting at the table drinking a beer and looking at the sports section as she entered the room.
“From what I hear the hot water heater needs fixing,” he said as he continued to stare at the paper. Jinny glared at him. “Jinny girl,” he continued, “I’m sorry you didn’t get any sleep last night.” Jinny rolled her eyes as she turned to leave, “and I’m sorry I got a sweat shower instead of a real one,” she muttered under her breath as she grabbed her leather jacket and walked out the door.
Well, there's my attempt at the beginning chapter of this fic. Please let me know what you think so far.
...might as well head back to my hole to try and write more...
