If you've had your gallbladder removed via surgery due to gallstones, or whatever other reason, what symptoms did you experience afterwards?

I had mine removed back in February of this year. My situation was caused by a blockage in the bile duct. Late October of last year I felt intense pain that wasn't going away and took a cab to the ER.

After all of the X-rays, scans, and blood work the docs discovered a blockage in the bile duct and I had to have a catheter under my right breastplate for 4 months to drain out all of the junk. They couldn't remove the gallbladder right away due to the infection.

I had the removal in February and the procedure went well. I was on percocet for the pain and was able to gradually wean myself off of them from 4x a day to 3x and so forth until I didn't need them anymore.

I had a slight fever the first few days after the operation, but I was told that was normal. I was also constipated for about a week, but that was due to the pain meds and that stopped when I didn't need them.

I really didn't have anything major go on after the operation. My MD told me to take it easy and I had to change my diet (no fried food, fast food, little to no beef...). I was very tired for a couple of weeks, but that was mostly due to the pain meds.

My liver counts were higher than what it should be, but it recently went back to normal. I gradually got my stamina back and am finally starting to feel like my old self.

About a month later I had a final outpatient procedure to remove the stent they inserted. That also went well and didn't experience anything bad when that was over.

I was at the mall shopping when suddenly I felt a weird feeling in my stomach and I told my mom to leave the mall because I didn't feel well. Anyway when I got home I still wasn't feeling well and so I took a rest and a few minutes later I couldn't rest because I got a sharp pain in my stomach and I spent an hour in the bathroom crying in pain and Mom was very concerned about me and the next morning she called the doctor and it turned out my stomach pain was my gallbladder and I had surgery. But after my surgery I had to take it easy because my movement was very limited and so I spent a week in my room watching movies and sitcom DVDs and I was on a special diet too. I now feel great but I still get pain from time to time but during the time I was sick it was no fun

That I'm not sure of.

For me it was needed to help "keep everything flowing", but the gallbladder still had to come out since it was very inflamed.

Yeah, I have gallstones, and the pain has been worsening recently. I'm attempting a change in my diet to remedy the problem, but I wonder if all I would need is a stent rather than a removal of the gallbladder.
