The Simpsons will sound different in season 29.

Variety reports that two-time Emmy winner Alf Clausen has been fired as the music composer after 27 years on the show.*

Clausen told*Variety (http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/simpsons-composer-alf-clausen-fired-1202543183/)*that he received a call from producer Richard Sakai. He said he was told that the company was seeking "a different kind of music" and that Clausen would no longer be scoring the landmark series. Danny Elfman's iconic theme song is expected to remain.

Clausen scored more than 560 episodes of the series beginning early in the 1990-91 season. It's believed that he's the most-nominated musician in Emmy history with 30 nominations, 21 of which came for The Simpsons. He also won five Annie Awards for his music on the show.*

He used a 35-piece orchestra to create the score for each episode, which is something that Simpsons creator Matt Groening insisted upon from the beginning. But that can be expensive: with the cost of musicians, recording studios, and orchestration, the music could cost millions of dollars each year.*

Clausen's last complete score for the series was the season 28 finale, which aired for May. The season 29 premiere is scheduled for Oct. 1, but it's not clear who will score that episode.*

I guess they can find somebody else. I'm sure they already have somebody on staff that could replace him.

I think that with Alf Clausen fired FOX will make this season the final season of The Simpsons because having Alf Clausen as the music composer was really important and I think it will be hard to find a replacement music composer to fill Alf Clausen's shoes. I truly think this shocking announcement will really hurt The Simpsons and cause it's ratings to drop because as you know The Simpsons has had many things happen during seasons such as the death of Phil Hartman in 2000 and the passing of Marcia Wallace and the death of Sam Simon and actress Jan Hooks who passed away I think The Simpsons will still be a fan favorite and I hope the new music composer will be just as good as Alf Clausen

Don't think the ratings will go down just because he got fired.

"The Simpsons'" Producers Comment on Composer Alf Clausen’s Ouster
by Denise Petski
August 31, 2017

Producers of "The Simpsons" are speaking out following reports of the ouster of longtime composer Alf Clausen from the show.

“We tremendously value Alf Clausen’s contributions to the Simpsons and he will continue to have an ongoing role in the show,” producers said in a statement provided to Deadline. “We remain committed to the finest in music for the Simpsons, absolutely including orchestral. This is the part where we would make a joke but neither Alf’s work nor the music of the Simpsons is treated as anything but seriously by us.”

It’s not clear what his ongoing role will be.

As long as this show remains a merchandising machine they will churn out episodes. I could see the Klausen firing sortabeing the first step of just replacing talent with cheaper alternatives, the show itself is not where Simpsons is making their money. Wouldn't be surprised if the voice actors are replaced whenever their contracts expire.

I'm afraid so...

The Simpsons make money and so they'll crap-out season after season, even if Matt Groening dies today...they'll NEVER Stop The Simpsons!

I call The Simpsons the Show that NEVER ends, I even made a parody of the Lamb-Chop song "This is the song that never ends"...

This is the show that never ends,
Yes it goes on and on my friends.
Some people started watching it not knowing what it was,
And they've continued watching it forever just because...

Repeat until The Simpsons are cancelled.

Didn't they have a problem with The Simpsons character voices regarding money a few years ago?

The Simpsons is widely regarded as one of the best comedy shows ever to appear on television, setting the record as the longest running scripted TV show in American history. This fall will begin the series’ 29th season, which is an impressive run for a show that began as a poorly animated sketch on The Tracey Ullman Show. Two-time Emmy winner Alf Clausen, the

It seems to me they should have fired some of the crappier writers, rather than the guy scoring the background music...

Clausen, 80, accused Fox of age and disability discrimination in his 2019. He was fired in 2017 after 27 years and 23 Emmy nominations. Clausen alleged he was fired because of his age and Parkinson’s diagnosis. A judge struck down the age discrimination claim but not the disability discrimination claim in a 2016 ruling.
