One of Nickelodeon's original hit shows that started at the network's launch, You Can't Do That On Television, is getting rebooted. (http://www.avclub.com/exclusive-you-cant-do-that-on-television-is-getting-a-1798539646)

Producer Jimmy Fox is intent on bringing back You Can’t Do That On Television for a new generation. Fox has teamed up with series creator Roger Price and his Penny Arcade Studios for the revived series, which will expand beyond the original sketch format to include "musical performances, celebrity cameos and interactive elements across multiple platforms," according to a press release. And slime. Don’t forget the slime.

It'd be nice if it airs on Nickelodeon. We'll see...

uh, I don't think they can do it without Moose.

Personally I'd rather see the original series get a proper DVD release than a have an "updated reboot"!

as a forerunner to all the other kid's skit shows, it would take something really special to make it stand out and truly be a "reboot" of the show instead of just another random show taking its name.

Nope if you can't include Christine, Alisdar, Lisa I'm not interested. Even if they do include the lockerroom jokes.

I would say something similar to one of the folks who were planning on this "reboot" (I suggest you contact them about it).

The original show started as a local Canadian show, then went national, had a few changes and then got picked-up by Nickelodeon after some more changes

I'm not really opposed to the idea of rebooting the show - but if it is not just going to be a similar show using the name, they need to have people from the original show involved to tie it together and legitimize it. Maybe Christine McGlade would be willing to come back to play Barth/other characters, even if just for a few episodes or pre-tape all her scenes for a season in one session.

The slime will be CGI.

I do not believe she ever played Barth on the program (the actor named Les Lye usually played him).

I realize that, but Les is no longer with us so maybe she could play the adult parts for part of the show

I vote a big fat NO to a reboot! At least when the show started out, there was a modicum of manners and respectability that were being rebelled against via the gags (and it even attempted to teach life lessons) but by the time it went off the air, even the veneer of civility was gone and I can't help but think it would just go into full CRUDE mode and stay there if they attempted to reboot it. We already have far too many shows on the air doing that so let us have the memories of when the show was actually okay in the beginning.
