You're entitled to your opinion, I support that, but hopefully you are as young as the opinion, first the character was added to support a revamped now in it's 5th season dying series that had a major cast change, network change and tho Shirley was outstanding she was loosing interest. Hence a series adds young cast members to attract younger viewers.

They saw something in who grew up to be the brillant beautiful actress Ann Jillian, if I have to explain any further, please other posters contribute to this thread!

Good for those who like her, but I find Millie to be annoying and not needed.

As for the rest of the newcomers, I like Steve and Barbara as well as the neighbors, the Williams. Little Susie was cute.

Only thing I found odd is that she was a young secretary. Ann was 15 and her character had a lot of responsibility . Maybe her character was 18 or so for Millie was always there. If she was younger, was she a high school drop out!

I didn't much like Ann's character at first, but she has definitely grown on me (as I watch multiple times). Ann's acting seems fine, especially for her age, and she interacts really well with Shirley Booth. It doesn't hurt that she's a cutie.

I remember the episode where Millie had a big crush on Steve {her boss** Steve took her out on a date to Observation Hill and parked to look at the city lights...Imagine what would happen today if a 30 something married man was on a date with a 15 year old girl!!!!
