Keke Palmer turns 24 today. Her first film role was in Barbershop 2, but it was with her starring role in Akeelah and the Bee that she really came to the industry’s attention. She also sang in the soundtrack for that film, launching a moderately successful singing career. She followed up with supporting roles in films like Cleaner and Shrink, and landed the title role in Nickelodeon’s series True Jackson, VP.
In 2012 Palmer co-starred with Oprah Winfrey in Joyful Noise, another role that allowed her to make use of her singing talents. She has done some work in musicals, appearing on Broadway as Ella in the revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella and in the TV movie Grease: Live. She was one of the stars of Fox’s Scream Queens, as Zayday Williams. After the cancellation of that series after two seasons, she has recently been added to the regular cast of Berlin Station for its second season.
