In the late 1950s and early 1960s like on the Beaver where Beaver think he has hypnotized Eddie. Did fathers bring work home in the 1950s and 1960s to work one the weekends? He has corner office. In that episode seems like he might be an accountant. Where is Mayfield?

Though we get hints here and there I don't think we'll ever know Ward's occupation, or the state Mayfield was in.

Some say Ohio because of some towns mentioned, yet in an episode Ward says they're 20 miles from the ocean.

Yes, you ought to have seen some of the threads on the TV Land Beaver site (back when TV Land had LITB, and when TV Land was a halfway decent network) about where Mayfield is. It's an unsolvable mystery. Along with Ward's occupation.

I swear Ward dealt in advertising especially for women shoppers. In Home Made Boat and Beaver the Hypnotist Ward mentions the buying power of women.

Could he have budget end of advertising even though he was working on either the statistics from the survey or giving the survey.

For all Ward's flaws and stuffiness, I think the fact that he WAS willing to make time for his boys and seriously consider rather than dismiss their concerns made him somewhat ideal for a good part of the viewing audience. Yes, one could argue that more father brought their work home back then but at least Ward used his den for actual 'grown up' work and studying as opposed to trying to use it to avoid June and the boys to try to recapture his teens by having turned it into a 'man cave'.

Well, Torgo, if it makes you feel less guilty, in Wally's Orchid (on MeTV today), Ward was using the den to practice his putting. And we know he certainly wasn't and awful husband and father.

I thought it was a riot how the study or den was used as the place to talk to dad. Whenever Wally or Beaver had a problem they made an appointment to talk to Ward. He would say "Wally go in the den and I'll be right in." In Ward's Millions Beaver is sitting in the den waiting to give Ward his book. He sat there like he was waiting for the principal or waiting to get adopted.
