Would a boy Wally had trouble what the trouble was when Andy had been a handyman at the old house until left because got drunk on the job (even it if Wally did why he stopped working). Was the reason they did tell the boys he had a drinking problem because they trying to protect them or is more back then it was still did talk about in polite society?

I think both Ward and June were wrongly trying to "protect" the boys, by shielding them from what they viewed as the seedier side of Mayfield society.
W&J should either have told the boys what Andy's problem was, or they should not have hired him. My vote would have been the first option.

Telling them would have better.

Yes. If the trim needed to be painted, then the guy (who needed a job) would have had one. And, Beaver would have known not to give him the brandy.

Exactly, Beaver said he wouldn't have given Andy the alcohol if he knew that was that Andy's problem was.
But even Ward and June learned that was a mistake on their part, sometimes you do learn from the kids.

Andy lied to Ward when he said he hadn't "you know what" in six months. He had a bottle in his pocket which he threw in their bushes. Also he said he was between jobs so he probably got booted off his last job for drinking. Painting on ladders and drinking don't mix. I wonder if they had a scene where Ward helped Andy into the car and it got edited. I can't imagine the boys didn't ever see a drunk or alcohol. Ward and June always came home from a party cold sober. Very commendable for the times.

Hey Torgo too bad the eclipse took all the play away from the death of Jerry Lewis, an icon in comedy.

^Between the eclipse and politics Jerry Lewis kind of got the brush off. It'd be nice if some network put together a special, with clips.
Re Andy and edits, I think I'll take a look at the DVD version, and report back.

Yeah, that's why my family and I did our own Jerry double-feature and watched his first two movies: My Friend Irma (1949) and My Friend Irma Goes West (1950)
Hopefully TCM does a day long tribute to him.

I'm really still quite surprised Jerry Lewis was only breaking news a part of Sunday then on to Eclipse and Trump. To compare Jerry Lewis to Dick Gregory was just dumb. Even though I wasn't a real Lewis movie fan some of his antics were brilliant. I believe Wally mentions how Eddie was fooling around on the track like Jerry Lewis. I think it's at the beginning of either Ivanhoe or Mother's Day Composition. They are sitting at kitchen table before school.

On the DVD there is no scene where Ward helps Andy into the car. There are a lot of small edits that are restored, like where Beaver shows Wally the monkey's fist before they have the conversation about Andy's bottle Beaver found. There is an opening scene where Wally is going over to Mary Ellen's house that may have been edited, since it's not overly related to the story.

Really I thought the first scene was always Beaver in front yard singing My Darling Clementine and meeting Andy.

I didn't compare. Then they cut out a whole scene (again, not a relevant one) where Wally was going over to Mary Ellen's.
