My younger sister, recently watched a few episodes of Cheers on Netflix at my house on my dad's birthday, and said how funny the show is (she'd never seen it before). So her birthday is coming up in a couple days, and I bought her the complete series box set (she doesn't have Netflix herself). Well, the box set comes in two packages: Seasons 1-6 and Seasons 7-11. Why wouldn't it be 1-5 and 6-11? That's where the series was divided the most - the Diane era and the Rebecca era. This is one of those tiny little things... that's bugging the crap outta me, haha. BTW, she watched a few season eight episodes. So she'll be in for a shock when she sees Diane and Coach there instead of Rebecca and Woody, lol.

My Cheers box set has each individual season in their own case, so idk.

This is the most recent release, and it has one big cardboard case, which holds two big plastic cases filled with the DVDs. One plastic case is seasons 1-6 and the other is 7-11. For myself, I own all 11 seasons individually as I bought them when they each came out on release day.

I mean it's the same box set with artwork and everything, just has all 11 seasons in individual cases in the complete series set that I have. I guess I got lucky?

Maybe the peculiar split is based on quantity of episodes. I know the later years had a lot of multi-part episodes that originally aired in an expanded timeslot, like Woody's wedding episode. Hence there are more episodes later in the series' run and the DVD packaging split had to fall a bit later to make it more even.
