Mindy Kaling Confirms Pregnancy on Sunday "TODAY" Interview

It’s official: Mindy Kaling confirmed that she is pregnant in a clip from a Sunday "TODAY" interview released Tuesday.

The news of Kaling’s pregnancy first broke in mid-July, but the star declined to comment or confirm until now.




“It’s so unknown to me,” Kaling told Willie Geist when asked about motherhood for the sit-down, set to air on NBC Sept. 10.

“I have a lot of control over a lot of aspects of my life, and this is one where it’s like, ‘Okay!’ It’s out of my hands, which is kind of a fun feeling.”




She also spoke about her own mother, whom she has described as her best friend and who died of pancreatic cancer in 2012.

“My mom was incredibly fierce and so devoted to us but was just loved us and really wanted us to be happy no matter what we did,” she said. “My career choice was not something she was familiar with, and she was just so supportive of that, and if I could give that to my child, just that open-mindedness, I’d be so happy.”

Mindy Kaling Welcomes her First Child

It’s a girl for Mindy Kaling! "The Mindy Project" creator and star, 38, has welcomed her first child, a daughter named Katherine on Dec. 15, E! News reports.

A rep for Kaling did not immediately return request for comment.

The Mindy Project star didn’t mention giving birth in an Instagram post today, but she did point out she’s throwing a “You’ve Got Mail Norah Ephron-themed holiday dinner” with “the young women that work with me.”

"He has a baby who is my baby’s age," Kaling says of The Late Late Show host, who also has to juggle having a new baby with work. "I did his show a couple of weeks ago. He told me the best thing you can do for a baby is constantly talk to them, even if you feel like you’re babbling to them,” said Kaling. “Since he told me that, I’ve been talking to her so much."
