View Full Version : Did you subscribe to Amazon Prime specifically for Unsolved Mysteries?
alistaircranium 08-13-2017, 01:50 PM Just curious if anyone subscribed for the main purpose of watching Unsolved Mysteries. I did. I don't use Amazon for much more than buying books every few months, so I haven't really taken advantage of the other Prime benefits.
For me, it's money well spent. For a year's subscription, we get one new season a month for a year.
I just wish Amazon would hurry up with their AppleTV app so I don't have to airplay with my phone!
amandab1234 08-13-2017, 02:37 PM Yes & it's one of the best investments I've ever made. They have a few other shows that I've become a huge fan of. I actually prefer prime over Netflix & Hulu
RevengeTypeBurn 08-13-2017, 02:38 PM Yep. I'd been considering it, but UM put it over the edge for me.
Hot Jock 08-13-2017, 03:15 PM I already had a subscription, along with roughly 80 million other people.

I don't know why 80 million people would pay to become a member of a store. You're already paying for things by buying from the site, and now they want you to pay even more to become a member. I'm against it in principle, so I held out until Unsolved. I justify it by viewing it as paying for a streaming service like Netflix rather than being a paid member of an online store.

Same here...I watch prime more than Hulu or Netflix, and I have all 3. Prime has a lot of older shows.. (Mr. Rogers for my kids, for that old-school "unsolved" vibe, haha!).+HBO shows. I was already a member prior to Unsolved and we pretty much order a majority of things off of Amazon anyway, so the 2 day shipping always puts it over the edge for us to order stuff from them. I think it's funny how people can actually be against signing up for it...if you break it up over 12 months, it's really only $9 or so per month.
LakeForestPI 08-13-2017, 08:50 PM No. That would be absurd

I'm against it because you're essentially paying to shop. If I'm already spending money on items bought through Amazon, would in the world would I want to pay an additional fee on top of that? This is exactly why I would never get a Costco membership.
NCRavensFan86 08-14-2017, 02:23 PM I was 100% Pro-Netflix and nothing but Netflix, but I did decide to subscribe to Amazon Prime because of UM. I will probably keep it for a while too, so I can watch UM again and again!!! Plus, Amazon has all of the HBO shows (over 3 years old) and they are going to stream NFL Thursday Night Games starting on 9/27.
So, you can say I came for the Unsolved Mysteries and I stayed for HBO and NFL games.
Plus, there are channels that you can add to your Amazon Video account for an extra $5-$10 a months and they all have free 7 day trials too. That is pretty sweet too!

In Canada, where I live, Prime has been pretty useless up until very recently. We only started getting video within the last year. It's main benefit up until that being the 2-day shipping (which I basically got for free from my proximity to the GTA).
I've worn through the dvd compilations many a time and when I realized Canada was finally getting UM on Prime along with the US I impulse bought it and haven't regretted it, even though it's literally the only thing I've watched on Prime.

Same here. I'm also Canadian and this is my exact experience as well.
It's only $79 a year here and that's completely worth it for just Unsolved.
