View Full Version : Still Seeing Myself

I once wrote about a female poster that I used to correspond with who stated that Katie was a total snot in the third-season episode "Samantha's Protest". I explained that, even though I agreed wholeheartedly with this school of thought, I was still able to see myself in Katie. Let me explain. Katie was determined to get asked out by the handsome boy from the protest and would stop at nothing to get this to happen. Whatever sense of scruples that she may have once possessed had gone out the window. This is where we come to her being a total snot. Well, in the same way that Kate, very much, wanted a date with the boy from the protest, I, very much want new friends and to stimulate some conversation on boards like this. I try my hardest to think of ideas that might spark some interest. Well, over on You Tube, I went to one of the uploads of the "Emergency". Four days ago, someone submitted a message that started with the minute and second on the clock that this line was delivered and then said "your purse, your purse"! My guess would be that most true fans of the show remember that classic line. Looking at the person who posted this comment as a potential new friend, I replied by mentioning that this was the first episodes of the show that I ever saw and that I instantly fell in love with that line and the interaction that went with it. It has been upwards of two days since I posted this and, so far, I do not have any responses. If you can imagine the way that Katie felt when she learned that the guy that she had her heart set on was taking Samantha to a movie the next day, that will give you some idea of how I feel in this situation! Oh well!

So what makes you see yourself in Katie? Specifically.

The thing that makes me feel similar to Katie is ambition that has no place to go. Katie was determined to get a date with the handsome boy from the protest and would stop at nothing to make this happen. However, because he did not ask her out, she was out of luck. I feel determined to make new friends and to stimulate some conversation on boards like this. More often then not, I fall on my face in making this achievement! Just look at the time-lapse between the time that I started this thread and the time that I got my one and only reply which was yours. Look at how many threads I start that never get a reply. This is how I see myself in Katie!

Katie seems like the type who got over it pretty quickly.

What makes you say that?

What makes you say that?
Because Katie would always move on and not dwell on anything negative.

I never thought of it like that, but you make a lot of sense!
