Hi everybody,
When I first read TV Guide's claim that the final episode of M*A*S*H may have come a season or two late, I was angered. This statement implying that the last couple of years of the show should not have aired upset me initially . . . that is, until I realized that they were right -- but not for the reasons they were thinking, I'm sure. By the last couple of seasons of M*A*S*H, it was clear that what had started out as a silly sitcom had evolved into brilliantly written, excellently acted and expertly directed entertainment that could make you laugh and cry almost simultaneously. It was by then. quite simply, a show that was too good for television. Naturally, for those viewers/critics incapable of appreciating a program so outstanding, it may as well not have even existed.

How else could you explain the greatest series in the history of television placing 25th on a list of "The 50 Greatest Shows Of All Time"?? I mean -- are The Simpsons, St. Elsewhere and Thirty-Something *really* better than M*A*S*H? And, as much as I enjoy the show Friends, I don't believe it compares, let alone *tops* M*A*S*H!!

Later,
Art

do you really believe those lists? look at them closely and you'll see that they have mostly new items in the lists. things that are currently marketable. this show is. but not like the ones you mentioned. that's what it's all about; marketing. nothing to do with statistics.
