Yesterday I heard the song Holding Back The Years by Simply Red and I was wondering what happened to him? Because when the song Holding Back The Years became a monster hit in America Simply Red's debut album Picture Book became an instant hit in 1985. Simply Red also released the song Money's Too Tight To Mention which also became a hit in the UK and then Simply Red released a remake of Harold Melvin And The Bluenotes If You Don't Know Me By Now from the album Flame in 1989 and then after the release of the song Stars in 1991 Simply Red disappeared
Is Simply Red still recording albums or did he retire from music?

Simply Red is actually a group fronted by Mick Hucknall.

Simply Red is still making music. They have their own website http://www.simplyred.com/. A New Flame is probably their best CD but I also like Blue (1998) Home (2003) and Life (1995). Too bad they don't tour the US they seem like an incredible live band.

So Simply Red is actually a group after all. I first heard the song Holding Back The Years on the radio sometime ago and it's a really cool song and very soothing and jazzy and did you know that singer Randy Crawford did a cover of Holding Back The Years too? I thought Simply Red's music is very unique and full of style and it's hard to find music styled like Simply Red's today

I heard the song Money's Too Tight To Mention this morning and it's one of Simply Red's funnest songs but I read that it was banned in other countries because of the lyrics and subject. I also listened to Holding Back The Years and the lyrics alone are simply stunning but too bad the guy misses his crush so much that the lyrics can be also sad too but it has a great jazzy beat to it. Another soul cover that Simply Red did was You Make Me Feel Brand New which is also cool
