View Full Version : Glenn Scarpelli in Archie Comics opus 07-30-2017, 04:28 PM http://d1466nnw0ex81e.cloudfront.net/n_iv/600/710453.jpg[/QUOTE] 220433 220434 220435 220436 220437 220438 220439 opus 07-30-2017, 04:28 PM 220440 Anna Karenina 07-30-2017, 07:41 PM This is groovy, Gary. Alex/Greg will LOVE it! opus 07-30-2017, 08:09 PM I just found the story with Valerie (and Eddie)! Guess what I'm buying next!! http://comicbookstories.blogspot.com/2007/05/henry-scarpelli-and-glenn-in-hollywood.html Alex Cooper 07-30-2017, 09:58 PM This is groovy, Gary. Alex/Greg will LOVE it! Totally I do! Thanks for posting it! :) I love the "He'll bring in the girls, he'll bring in the guys" line.;) But they screwed up a bit with "Mantle mansion"; Veronica's the rich one, not Reggie. I always figured Reggie's family had more money than Archie's, making him more of a rival for the girls' affections, but I never thought he was supposed to have a mansion. I suppose just the thought of doing a concert with Glenn made the Riverdalians forget their proper places.:) I hope you can get the "celebrity" issue too. Aside from Valerie, how many of those people do you think Glenn actually knew? At least I learned the butler/man Friday also featured in the story I have is named Otto!:) Alex Cooper 07-30-2017, 10:01 PM Another Glenn story from Pep #405, cover date March 1986. Here's the cover, though Glenn does not appear on it, nor is he mentioned. Alex Cooper 07-30-2017, 10:04 PM The first page "splash" panel. The art is different from his appearance with the Archies; it's a less realistic representation. Glenn's father may be the artist, but no credits are given for this story. Alex Cooper 07-30-2017, 10:07 PM Here's my favorite panel from the story. Comic Glenn looks cute, and the dialogue is  . I'll post the entire story, as long as I don't get in copyright trouble with Archie Comics! I know how they feel about Archie/Reggie slash fiction! opus 07-30-2017, 10:34 PM I'll post the entire story, as long as I don't get in copyright trouble with Archie Comics! Sure, now you tell me..... opus 07-30-2017, 10:40 PM I hope you can get the "celebrity" issue too. Aside from Valerie, how many of those people do you think Glenn actually knew? Already pricing it. About 2 bucks if I wait till I'm buying stuff anyways (when I'd already be paying for shipping), about 6 bucks if I can't wait and get it on it's own. At first I was psyched to own the only Glenn appearance. Then I was bummed to find out there were more. Now I'm thrilled to find a Valerie Bertinelli comic  Alex Cooper 07-30-2017, 10:44 PM Sure, now you tell me..... It's more at home here anyway. Mostly, I just took a few select pictures because I wanted to see how large the images posted.:) Alex Cooper 07-30-2017, 10:47 PM Already pricing it. Now I'm thrilled to find a Valerie Bertinelli comic  See, and I wasn't aware of the cover appearance and crossover story with the Archies. The time would have been my heyday for buying Archie comics, so I must have just missed that one. 2 to 6 dollars isn't bad for what may be Valerie's only comic book appearance (which is a shame).;) :) opus 07-30-2017, 10:54 PM It's more at home here anyway. Mostly, I just took a few select pictures because I wanted to see how large the images posted.:) You have to post the whole story now. If I'm getting locked up for copyright infringement, you're going with me  Alex Cooper 07-30-2017, 11:07 PM You have to post the whole story now. If I'm getting locked up for copyright infringement, you're going with me  Okay, as long as I get the bottom bunk, cuz I'm afraid of heights!:) Love your new avatar! Alex Cooper 08-06-2017, 10:10 PM Okay, opus hasn't been arrested, so I guess I can post this (actually, I just kept forgetting). Here's Glenn Scarpelli in Hollywood in "Brenda and Joan." Joan retired from the comic biz not long after this story, but Brenda continued to make appearances in DC and Marvel comics well into the mid-'90s, usually as an innocent bystander. Well, one is dressed kind of masculine. It's funny that Glenn is the star, but he has only one line: "Hi girls!" Anna Karenina 08-06-2017, 10:29 PM Totally! :). Well, one is dressed kind of masculine. It's funny that Glenn is the star, but he has only one line: "Hi girls!" Yeah, you would think his daddy would have given him more dialogue. But, man he really looked handsome in that strip. with his full kissable lipe. Alex Cooper 08-06-2017, 10:33 PM Yeah, you would think his daddy would have given him more dialogue. But, man he really looked handsome in that strip. with his full kissable lipe. I know; the third panel on the last page---in my fantasies, that's how I'd picture him after we made wild monkey love!:) Anna Karenina 08-06-2017, 10:46 PM I know; the third panel on the last page---in my fantasies, that's how I'd picture him after we made wild monkey love!:) I will raise a bunch of bananas to that! :happyface  Torgo 08-06-2017, 10:58 PM Those are neat. I've a bunch of Archie's but I stopped collecting them before the Glenn ones came about, though I did start buying them again for my daughter when she got into them. I've since bought some of the volumes that has stuff going back to the 40's. Alex Cooper 08-06-2017, 11:04 PM Those are neat. I've read Afterlife with Archie, which I really enjoyed. Some of the new stuff where they make the characters look real is strange to me. Alex Cooper 08-06-2017, 11:27 PM I've read Afterlife with Archie, which I really enjoyed. Some of the new stuff where they make the characters look real is strange to me. Yeah; most of what is in Archie, DC, and Marvel, I'm personally not in love with, but if it keeps the characters going for current tastes, more power to them. Keep 'em alive, because hopefully one day the old school versions will come back into vogue...or any of the other ladies' magazines. |
