View Full Version : Thank you, TNN for skipping that HORRIFIC Bicycle Man episode!!!!
Smokin' Sods 05-09-2002, 02:19 AM According to the episode guide, the Bicycle Man 2-parter *should* have aired either late this week or early next week. Oh thank you TNN, for skipping right over that nasty, wasty Bicycle Man episode. I'm glad we can count on the good ole boys at TNN to pass right over it! But, I must say, I am SHOCKED you guys are indeed skipping over this episode. After all, gee, I thought Nick at Nite, TV Land, and TNN *NEVER EVER* skipped over episodes. I'm just glad you are, because I don't think any of us could handle that Bicycle Man episode! YIKES!!!!! I mean, this is ONLY the year 2002! Its not like we're a civilized society yet, capable of making our own decisions. We're just not ready for that kind of controversy yet! Can you imagine what kind of mass chaos you would cause by playing this episode of Diff'rent Strokes from 1983?!?! OH THE HORROR! THE HORROR!!! I am so glad we have you, TNN -- to tell us what is "good" and what is "bad" ... what is "right" and was is "wrong." Oh TNN, thank you, thank you, thank you! Please continue to show us the way. Please hold us in your "Leave it To Beaver" world forever and never let go! Thank you for protecting us from that awful Mr. Horton! I will never be able to thank you enough, TNN! Yes, yes -- birds are singing ... the sun is shining! Golly, isn't it a swell world after all! :)
(Sarcasm mode now off)
Curtis3331 05-09-2002, 11:43 AM HEHEEHEHH! TNN and N@N, you can't trust them!

Actually, Leave It to Beaver was quite controversial for it's time. The series dealt with tobacco, divorce, alcoholism, embezzlement, constant lying, continual blatent defiance of parental authority and of course the ever present talk of parents hitting their kids. Not to mention the episode, Box Office Attraction, where an underage Wally goes into a bar with an older woman who smokes, drinks and makes heavy advances on Wally. Or how about the episode, Wally Goes Steady, where teenage marriage is covered. In many ways, Diff'rent Strokes and Leave It to Beaver are parallel minus the obvious issue of race.
FOL85NatandMrsGRock 05-09-2002, 04:32 PM I LOVE LEAVE IT TO BEAVER!!! :loveya:
are you sure that you were being sarcastic throughout that whole post? i am a tad confused, did you mean that you were really pissed that they skipped it, or were you REALLY serious? cuz if you were, you need to get HELP! :)

I'd have thought the fact he said (Sarcasm mode now off) at the bottom would make it pretty obvious!
Congradulations to TV Land who seem to have been the only network anywere recently to air "The Bicycle Man."
Smokin' Sods 05-09-2002, 07:54 PM Thanks, Jethro. I didn't even think the 'sarcasm' comment was probably necessary, but played it safe anyway. And STILL somebody misunderstands. Ugh. And as for the other reply about Leave It To Beaver, I love the show and know it dealt with some big issues for its time. I was basing the comment on the innocent REPUTATION of the show ... the whole "Honey, I'm home" and "Gee, Wally" thing.
