Fantasia certainly has the "voice", so why isn't she a multi-platinum selling artist? Who is her management team?

From the time Fantasia Barrino debuted on American Idol I think people knew that we were seeing an R&B singer that could easily become the new Aretha Franklin with a unique voice and sound that R&B music had never experienced before and so when Fantasia Barrino was announced as the winner of American Idol in 2003 they knew that the next big singer in R&B music had arrived. And so Fantasia proved it well when her debut album Free Yourself was released with her first single Truth Is hitting the music charts and she proved that she could do remakes of jazz and country songs with ease. But as soon as she released her album Fantasia and the album Back To Me she had indeed proven herself to be as big as Whitney Houston was when Whitney Houston released her 1987 album Whitney. But I think when Fantasia released her album Side Effects Of You her popularity started to wane and she had changed management companies and with this album Fantasia recently put out you don't really hear much about Fantasia anymore but I'll guarantee that with the next album she will put out she will regain popularity again and be as popular as Beyonce Nicki Minaj and Rihanna

Fantasia isn't a media and paparazzi whore. That's why she isn't as popular. And, that's why she's actually better.

Maybe she should have picked a different Disney movie to name herself after?

Even though her music is good it sounds like something you hear on Gospel radio or an R&B station in the 80s or 90s. That music is never gonna mass appeal to young music purchasers and it would stick out out like a sore thumb on top 40/pop radio.

Because she's got a terrible voice? I'm sorry I don't understand anybody liking Fantasia's "singing". I really can't stand to listen to her at all I think she sounds like a dying cat or something. I was so angry when she was the 3rd season winner of American Idol I pretty much quit watching it after that.

It's because her music was not "mainstream" or "commercial." Her music style is dated. She's good at captivating an audience, she just doesn't know how to capture an audience.

I recently read a comment (https://www.datalounge.com/thread/32198717-fantasia-barrino-should-have-had-a-bigger-career.) that argued that Fantasia (https://www.stereogum.com/2207096/the-number-ones-fantasias-i-believe/columns/the-number-ones/)'s vocals and performances are way too raw (https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/why-is-fantasia-barrino-so-underrated.991412/). So she was never going to be (https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/fantasias-career.3684593/) as commercially successful than maybe she otherwise should've been (https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/fantasia-should-have-had-a-bigger-career.3094042/). Plus, her recorded work can be spotty (https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/what-kept-fantasia-from-becoming-a-bigger-success-she-had-the-it-factor.4820028/) - often as a result of terrible production and ho hum songwriting - but there are gems to be found there.
